A word of wisdom and hope from Boulder....

Greetings to my friends to the east. Although I hail from the great state of Colorado and represent Buff Nation, I come to you without malice or ill-will. We have much in common and CU and NU seek a return, nay - we demand a return to the highest perch of this game we love. I offer words of encouragement and a prediction that this will happen for us both, and sooner than anyone would have dreamed.

Once the Big Red is done dispatching with the Terps (prediction 27-26 NU) earlier in the day, I urge you to tune into ESPN tomorrow night to witness a glimpse of the college football dominance that awaits us in the next decade. With the nation watching and many recruits pondering the biggest decision of their young lives I offer this prognostication: CU 31 - U-Dub 24. This singular game will serve as a key brick in the house (or hornets nest) that Tucker is building. And to you Huskers I say this; have faith for you are not far behind!

Sleep on these words. Remember these words.

Colorado's game plan allowed them to keep up with Nebraska for the 1st half, but halftime adjustments resulted in the Cornhuskers exploding for a Big 8 record 48 points in the 3rd quarter alone, which was also just 1 point short of the NCAA record for points in a quarter. Buffalo CB Victor Scott later stated "It was like someone dropped the atom bomb on us", in regards to the three touchdowns Nebraska put up in the first 2:24 of the 2nd half. During one stretch of the third quarter, the Huskers set an NCAA record by scoring 41 points in 2:41 time of possession.

I love when pissant programs say "we have a lot in common" with us, a blueblood in the highest echelons of college football.

Fuq outta here.
CU has more in common with us that Iowa at least. CU has at least won something major in their history. They had a pretty good run at one time but have floundered of late largely due to their crappy administration and poor culture promulgated by the hippy lettuce culture. The politics would drive me nuts out there, but I would love to live on the front range.

Go back to minnesota Rogers Nelson.

While Lincoln and Boulder remain night and day different, the results on the field the last 2 years, our 6 and 6 record against CU over the past 18 years, comparative turnover in coaching staffs, and questionable overall athletic department administration in recent history all speak volumes about how much in common we have with CU at this point in time......as much as it pains me to say it.

Nope, and I feel no pain.

I live in the present and look forward towards the future. Never look back son.

As a NU alum who has lived 20 miles from Boulder for 25+ years, I totally get the historical and cultural differences in the programs. Unfortunately, over the past 5 years, our record is 27-33. CU's record over the same period, 27-33. And were 0-2 head to head in two closely contested games. At some point, you are what your record says you are, and for the past 5 years the results on the field couldn't be more similar. Also, since 2003, both schools have fired four coaches, and tried a combination of coaches with ties to the program and outsiders. While I think Frost will bring success back to NU, neither school has clear evidence at present that they righted the ship on that front.

Its like being in the Twilight Zone taking a stance on how NU is similar to CU, and I wish could overlook those similarities, but those are the facts.

I am a Husker fan. Native Nebraskan and don't understand with how pathetic we have been that Blueblood can be associated with our current codition
Good to know you were born in 1999.

Listen, Colorado was never a blueblood, will never be a blueblood. Just because a cat is eating out of a dog bowl doesn't mean that cat's parents are dogs.

Get some perspective.

Says someone whose program hasn't been, and won't be, relevant for decades. I guess, in your opinion, Princeton is a "blueblood" football program. After all they do have 7 times as many national championships in football than nebraska does. 28 versus 4. What you don't seem to comprehend is that at some point a program is just "history"......not a blueblood. Nebraska has reached that point, a while ago. They are now the team other teams want to schedule for homecoming to ensure a win. Not exactly "blueblood" resume' material!!

Army also has as many national championships as NU. Their last one was in 1946, and ours 1997. For most of us fans over 35, there is a big difference, as we remember when NU was dominant, but Army not so much. However, if you are an 18 year high school senior born in 2001 and Frost is pitching you on NU, is there any difference, both are ancient history to them.

There are recognized bluebloods written about over and over that you've probably never read, you have zero reason to.

Princeton, Army and Colorado are not in those articles.

May I request your nostalgic and eloquent description of the games in 2018, 2019 and perhaps my favorite of all time 2001?

If you ask 10 different people their definition of blue blood you'll likely get 10 different answers. To me, a big part of it is how others outside of Nebraska view the program. Referring to my post above, how many 18 year olds would define NU as a blue blood today? - that is a pretty important demographic. Also, if conference realignment was happening today vs 2011, it would be interesting if the B1G would be looking in a different direction than NU. You could argue we were attractive in 2011 based on the blue-blood reputation, but our brand was fading at that point. Nearly a decade later, we are even more irrelevant and less successful. Hard to believe the B1G does not have some level of buyer's remorse relative to NU, volleyball program aside.

Yet here you are. Taking the trouble of making multiple screen names to post in a thread of an irrelevant program.

Tune in to watch the Colorado Buffalos? Yeah right! I would rather watch paint dry.

Colorado would be a much nicer to place to visit if it weren’t for the people there.

Nice win tonight versus WU. I was in a house covered with around 20-30 Huskie fans and was secretly rooting for CU.

I loathe Husker fans who claim we were once a blue blood program from 70s-1997, and thus don't have to "earn it" like we did back in the day, and look down on other programs which have eaten our lunch the last 20 years.

A lot of NU fans fail to realize, our program has a lot to "earn" in this century.

A lot of bark and little bite is where us true Nebraska fans find ourselves today. As a true "blue blood" Husker fan, it pisses me off and it makes me shameful of our fanbase.

multiple screen names? your ignorance is only exceeded by your delusional optimism in a coach with more losing seasons than winning. and, yes, your team is irrelevant and has been for this entire century. but you already know this.......don't ya?

"It was obvious Katie was not very good. She was awful. Katie was not only a girl, she was terrible. Okay? There's no other way to say it."

That's too bad, you missed an epic battle. How about them Buffaloes?
Who? I think there was a game between Washington and some other team.

I do remember an entire section of Buffalo ‘fans’ being kicked out in Boulder (2005?) for throwing things on the field and stopping the game. That is not a microcosm of the Colorado Buffalo fanbase. That IS the mentality of the fanbase. Total losers. They have riots, burning and overturning cars when they WIN! You guys are unbelievable. Stay classy Puff!

Yep. So irrelevant you're up here still posting with one profile or another in the middle of the night.

Tell us more.

Didn't we also put turner gill in for the 2nd half ? That could have had something to do with all the points.

1) Not "us", unless you played and put in the sweat equity into the Nebraska program.

2) Nebraska hasn't been in the higher echelons for quite sometime. I'm not a big fan of much of the CU base, but keep this little attitude of yours in mind the next time you gripe about how lousy you're treated in Boulder, and maybe look the mirror.
