A top 25 class?

As a young man who could not have been more than 10??? at church sitting in a pew at Westbrook Evangelical off Maple st and 80th I remember the pastor would have to address a loss at the beginning of a sermon for us....and it wasn't in a joking way....it was literally religon for some of us.
My Pastor still does….

I think we are at 26 right now.

That link shows 34, but I suspect it isn't updated.

When you follow that link, click on Nebraska's name, and it will show you the list of commits, and in the upper right corner, it says 26

So we are really close to making that top 25

A kid like Jeudy or that longshot Cornelius vaults NU into the top 25.

Agreed. After 5 years of the glass being empty, I'll allow myself to now see it as half full. lol

A LOT of 4* kids already believe they have it figured out, have a sense of entitlement, have been treated like stars since they were 12 years old, and are destined to be stars. Those lower starred kids may have more motivation to see how good they actually can be, and they realize they have a lot to learn.

Many may be thankful for an opportunity to get a free education and work their butts off to accomplish that goal.

Without question, some of these newly signed kids will be busts, but there may be a handful that really develop.
How many here do not know this. Of course they don't all pan out.
We will be fine!

At church once, I asked the pastor if he knew the difference between those who pray in church and those who pray at the racetrack?

He said he didn't know.

I told him, at the track, they really mean it.

That’s a good one, but I’ve got one that’s better. One of my mother-in-laws favorite story’s, she was mortified at the time but can look back and laugh now, was about the time my wife told a joke to their minister. When my wife was seven, during a church potluck, she asked the minister “What’s green, slimy, and smells like pork?” When the minister said I don’t know she said, “Kermit’s finger.” Now my wife has always been a fan of Jim Henson and The Muppets, so that was what interested her about the joke when she overheard one of her dad’s drinking buddies tell it, she had no clue what it all meant. I just wish I could have seen that ministers face. 😂

Yup and I believe more of these kids are going to be willing to stay and wait until their Junior year to start (if they are good enough) as opposed to leaving after their freshman season of not starting.

This is a good point. If the coaches truly mean what they say about relationships, I think you are spot on here.

What's the status on Lenhardt and Barry Jackson? I see that Barry is the only commit that hasn't signed NLI

Barry is doing a signing day announcement later today (people are pretty worried about this one) and Lenhardt is going to announce at the all-american game Jan 3rd (most think Nebraska).

I have traditionally put too much stock in the recruiting rankings every year only to see us fail to live up to expectations time and time again. Going to be happy with what we have, and never want to see us fall below 4th or 5th in the league recruiting, but it would be nice to see a coach actually do something with them. I hope Rhule is different. So far he seems like he is the real deal.

I’m more worried about getting the right players in the right positions. If it is over inflated with skill pos players, then I’m less enthused. Coleman alone bumped us 10 spots or so. We didn’t get that much better with 1 signing.

Do we have enough D line and OLine and LB?

If NU could get that LG from Baylor that would be a huge get. I think our LB situation is fine and looking better every day with the scheme White plays.

Thanks! Just found this on HV... There was some chatter that Jackson could be considering a late flip to Louisville, now under the direction of former Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm.

This should be a negative free zone today. We can dissect the holes and the needs another time. The momentum and positive vibe around the program is palpable, internally and externally. Fvcking awesome run by this staff. Haters can eat a big bag of dicks.

Us NU fans may be the ONLY program with 6 consecutive losing seasons who have a board full of people that are glued to the computer to see who commits. We're dedicated fans if nothing else.

Others will hear about it on their local sports report tonight or read about it later on the computer.

Exactly. I'm way more excited about Rhule's first class than any of Frost's because of that reason alone (and that these players will probably actually be developed).

We are about to be crowned the 25th consecutive off-season champs. Time to start work on 2024z

Exactly known developer with a system of success and I'm more excited because everything so far that we have heard from Matt Rhule that he said he would do he has done up to this point.

Makes sense though if someone "found you" when no one else wanted you as a prospect you have got to think that player would show a ton of loyalty.

In my rankings, I have them finishing barely inside the top 40, which isn't good but expected given its a transition class. Coach Rhule has only been in Lincoln for a matter of weeks, so him and his staff are doing the best they can. The majority of this class will be guys that never pan out or contribute because they are reaches/projects - but again, that's common in transition classes - and was the case in transition classes for the past few coaches Neb. has been through. This isn't new.

I've been impressed by, but not surprised by, the effort put forth by the entire coaching staff. They certainly are putting in long days and tapping on every connection they have. Its just really difficult when most schools have developed relationships with these recruits for years while these new coaches have had weeks. Its not really fair to even compare them. Now, next yr. and the following years, thats a different story.
Barely top 40 huh? 28th on 247. 26th on Rivals. Not counting 4 star Cameron Lenhardt which will bump up more. Don't quit your day job. Lol
