Nebraska needs to make ground on solid 4 star players. Whether or not it is an indicator for success, the top ten teams on Rivals have plenty of them, hopefully Nebraska can garner more this class and in the future.
The jump they have made in this short amount of time is incredible. Give them a full year and if they get Raiola on board there will be 4 stars lining up to play!!

In my rankings, I have them finishing barely inside the top 40, which isn't good but expected given its a transition class. Coach Rhule has only been in Lincoln for a matter of weeks, so him and his staff are doing the best they can. The majority of this class will be guys that never pan out or contribute because they are reaches/projects - but again, that's common in transition classes - and was the case in transition classes for the past few coaches Neb. has been through. This isn't new.

I've been impressed by, but not surprised by, the effort put forth by the entire coaching staff. They certainly are putting in long days and tapping on every connection they have. Its just really difficult when most schools have developed relationships with these recruits for years while these new coaches have had weeks. Its not really fair to even compare them. Now, next yr. and the following years, thats a different story.

agree, we need more 4 stars..

I am not negative on what's been happening though.. been quietly watching and I like some of the results that coach Rhule is getting in the recruiting game.

It can and still needs to improve, but he's doing ok so far. Keep grinding.

Well, you’ve been wrong about everything else so far, so here is hoping! 🤣🤣🤣 Way to go out on a limb with the prediction, they were 38th composite yesterday. 🙄

You know, you really need to go out during your 4th grade recess time instead of wasting your time spewing crap like this on a message board.

38th? Yeah, I'd say thats about right. It may climb a little higher depending on who commits down the stretch - but they're not in the final grouping for a significant number of highly rated prospects. Thats just kinda the way it is this late in the game.

Given that NU has routinely landed top 25 and top 20 recruiting classes in the past several years and yet routinely lost to programs that rarely crack the top 30, I'll temper any enthusiasm or disappointment with how they stack up after early signing.

I want to see a staff DEVELOP the talent they bring in. I hope we finally have that staff.

from 67 to 34 is okay.. it's not over yet, we still have positions of need. Not going to celebrate and start ass kissing prematurely.. but I am encouraged with the improvement and some of the recruits being targeted.
I'd take # 34 with a staff of development coaches including Nutrition and S & C, over a # 25 Scott Frost staff of incompetents.

If NU could get lucky and get that LG from Baylor, it would fill a massive hole in the OL and allow for some flexibility. That Baylor kid is a road grader.

If NU can add an NT/DT or 2 DTs of good quality, and 1 more LB, and of course keep the kids they've signed, I would consider this a helluva class considering NU has been shorthanded in the assistant coaches department thus far.

# 34 or # 25 or # 18 doesn't make any difference to me. Serious speed has begun to arrive, NU is winning some battles against good-quality teams. And we don't even know if the NIL purse strings have been in play, or for how much.

I think we are all aware of the long road NU needs to take to begin to be competitive each week.

Obviously it will depend how we finish out tomorrow. A higher ranking class certainly is better than not but it also means a little less these days with the transfer portal and so many initial recruits disappearing from the roster down the road. It's more of a free for all these days every year.

I'm encouraged by the direction things are headed, but I'm not ready to make any kind of expectation of which staff is better than the other, as we have zero game data with the new guy.

I get the desire to assume he's going to be better and that his class will be more productive, but I'm going to try not to make any assumptions.

I'm glad it's headed in the right direction, but personally, I would like to see three more 4 stars in this recruiting class.

Stars don't mean everything, but you have to have good talent. Success leaves clues, and I know a Nebraska has also put stars on kids as well.

All else being equal, I want some more talent. Call me greedy on this one. :)

In researching Rhule's methodology at both Temple and Baylor, he just kinda does the same thing.

Speed, and then more speed. I'm not even sure if he cares about how many *s a kid has if he has the physical characteristics he's looking for. Sure, guys like you and I would want more 4* kids, but BAMA, GA, OSU, NU, and a lot of other teams have 4* kids that go bust all the time. We've witnessed it first hand for 5 straight years.

As a program coming off 6 straight losing seasons, it's a program that has forgotten how to win. That doesn't mean Rhule will be able to come in here and achieve that, but his teams have consistently won more and more each year.

For crying out loud, there are 43 bowl games this year and NU is a no-show for years now. 86 teams, including a 5-8 Rice team go bowling and we NU fans sit home and watch this shit show on tv.

After witnessing the last 5 years of Frost, and the total failure of a coach, it is refreshing to see a new guy come in, bust his ass, and begin the process of doing exactly what he said he would do. Get fast kids, develop them, develop a running game, and develop a good defense. That part remains to be seen, but so far, I'm liking what I see.

I don't blame anyone for having a wait-and-see attitude. I'm just glad he is starting with Nutrition, S & C, and some guys who can really run. NU has a solid returning nucleus to work with. It's up to Rhule and his staff to fill in the gaps.

I liked all of this....what I DON'T like is to remember it's been six years since we've been to a bowl...and I have forgotten how to care....

I'm on board with what Rhule has stated. Quit worrying about the stars and recruit rankings. Let's see the product on the field.
This is a recruiting site. Of course we have to wait to see how they actually perform, but the whole point of this site is stars and recruit rankings.

Good post with a lot of good points. But let's not pretend that recruiting speed is going to somehow have a lower failure rate than recruiting 4 star studs. A lot of the 4 star busts are fast kids as well. You need speed and players that are coveted by other programs. It's a transition year, so he gets a pass from me.

Still, it's not like we are stockpiling great talent. Five 5.5's, two 5.6's and one each of 5.7 and 5.8. Several of these guys are major projects/reaches. Which is okay as long as we process kids out.

Back in the day, a loss would follow me for a couple of days.
In the last several years, a loss is forgotten about in 10 minutes. Sad.

As a young man who could not have been more than 10??? at church sitting in a pew at Westbrook Evangelical off Maple st and 80th I remember the pastor would have to address a loss at the beginning of a sermon for us....and it wasn't in a joking way....it was literally religon for some of us.

We need to land some more transfers to make immediate impact and push the competition day one. Happy with some talented freshmen, but we gotta inject talent that can help us win in 2023.

Looking at DL Vincent Carrol Jackson
Edge Chief Borders and Elijah Jeudy
OL Ben Scott and Ajani Cornelius

… and whoever else can help us quick

Agreed. After 5 years of the glass being empty, I'll allow myself to now see it as half full. lol

A LOT of 4* kids already believe they have it figured out, have a sense of entitlement, have been treated like stars since they were 12 years old, and are destined to be stars. Those lower starred kids may have more motivation to see how good they actually can be, and they realize they have a lot to learn.

Many may be thankful for an opportunity to get a free education and work their butts off to accomplish that goal.

Without question, some of these newly signed kids will be busts, but there may be a handful that really develop.

Absolutely. And I would add that LG from Baylor.

At church once, I asked the pastor if he knew the difference between those who pray in church and those who pray at the racetrack?

He said he didn't know.

I told him, at the track, they really mean it.
