Rumblings of a defensive starter getting injured today. Anyone have any info? Hopefully it's not as bad as I'm hearing.

There's another, sophomore class but not a returning starter, unknown results as of this evening. @kaz36 good on you for bringing this thread back.

Hint - big hit in the MCB game.

A meniscus tear, even more so a mild tear is nothing to worry about. He could fix it now and be back to full speed in 2-3 weeks or even play the whole year with it that way. And before some asks, I tore my meniscus in high school football and played the whole season with it. Didn't get it cleaned up till 10 plus years later. It's really nothing to worry about.

It is not safe to assume that a meniscus injury and related surgery is not a big deal. There are many variables that doctors do not often know about until they get in the knee to see for sure. I have seen HS athletes back in action in a few weeks and some who had continuing lingering problems that lasted over a year. I have personally had two of them, one on each knee, as an adult, not in HS. One was great in a few weeks and the other was nearly a year. The odds are this type of injury is easy to treat but there are times when it is not and there are continuing problems with pain. I look forward to seeing both of these guys back on the field in a few weeks - that is best case scenario.

Ineed. Let's all hope it's a quick recovery. Not having him at 100% would be a huge blow. And besides, I really like CJ. I think he's a class act and stands to make a name for himself at the next level.

Which is why I thought he was trolling...Winking
But seeing your post above and reading his you might be right in Mo. Did he have the fumble recovery on special teams during the bowl game or was it Jo Jo?

Jones should have gone to your surgeon.

It is a common misconception that people return 2-3 weeks after getting their meniscus fixed. When someone returns this quickly they only had a menisectomy which is the removal of the damaged tissue instead of repairing the tear. With Jones it appears there was a large enough tear with a uniform enough tear pattern to repair it which takes longer to recover as the sutured tissue requires time to heal.
