A few thoughts

as I ponder here at the hospital.

1. I'd like to see more run game, however, this general thought is not aimed at play selection today. Pretty much any pundit outside of the program has noted that any team who is capable of doing so, will take away NU's run game and make TA beat you with his arm. *In the past* NU got around this general strategy by having a bad ass OL and physically dominating people (see 1995 or any of the golden years), however *presently* NU does not have that capability. Do I prefer to run just to say we did when NWU was eating our lunch? Not me personally, we do have inefficiency in the passing game, but we are also seemingly always in position for TA to throw for 5 TD's a game if there was *this much | |* more execution.

2. To answer people's questions, no I don't think we have another D1 QB on the roster. We're going to live and die by TA. Darlington might be the closest to what skillset we'd need, but I'm not sure if Darlington, Bush or Fyfe have the in-game experience/awareness to be the escape artist they'd need to have to have a passing game. Fyfe came into the game against Southern Miss and his first or second pass in garbage time was picked after he threw it right to a defender, and hes *#2*.

3. Really would like to find a way to scrap for 3 more wins for a bowl game, hard to predict, with this team, we could roll MSU and lose to Purdue. Every game is a dog fight.

Curious what other folks think.

So Fyfe can't stand in the pocket and sling it downfield? Can't do worse than TA.

What pocket? Half the plays we make, TA has to escape first.

And judging by what we saw of him in Southern Miss, he could sling it, but he's going to be an even higher rate of TO's.

TA had all day to throw the ball for the most part, he was just pathetic, and when he wasn't guys dropped the ball.

Can't wait for some new recruits to get on campus.

I was speaking generally. He escaped a few times today, but there was a cleaner pocket than normal.

I don't think rolling MSU is realistic at all. Two more losses is the likely best outcome for this season.

I don't think its likely either, I'm just pointing out for as sporadic as this team is, we could come out and play the game of the year at MSU and still lose a clunker to like Purdue.

I think we needed to win today to make a bowl game.... Unless we upset Iowa it's going down as one of the third worse seasons in 52 years.
