Huskers, lead by Senior QB Steve Taylor, get redemption against redshirt Sophomore QB Charles Thompson and the Sooners.

Huskers score on the opening drive and with an amazing performance by the Charlie McBride lead Blackshirts were able to hold on to a 7-3 victory during a tornado watch in Norman, OK.

On the last play of the game for the Sooners: 4th & 14 from the 49 yard line. Seniors Willie Green & Lawrence Pete sack Charles Thompson breaking his leg. This would be Charles Thompson’s last game as a sooner.

Charles joined Central State's (Ohio) then-NAIA football team primarily as a running back, and helped them win the 1992 NAIA Division 1 Championship. As a 25-year-old junior, Thompson carried 200 times for 1,018 yards and five touchdowns and caught 29 passes for 439 yards and 7 touchdowns. He decided to forgo his senior year and enter the 1993 NFL Draft; but his past proved to be too great a risk for NFL teams, and he went undrafted and never played in the NFL.

Another interesting note: Mikey Joseph was a freshman QB on this 1988 Husker team.
