Here's what I don't get. We averaged 6.4 ypc rushing the ball. We were 10-31 passing. There were 2 drives in the 3rd quarter that were 5 play drives. In both of those drives the first 2 plays were run plays, and both netted first downs. Then in both of those drives the next 3 plays were pass plays both ending in punts. To me that's where the game was lost. We have alot of issues on this team. Short on talent in some spots, injuries, new system being learned, youth and inexperience, and all of these are valid, but this game was lost by poor play calling by the coaches imo. The most frustrating thing is I feel like the defense took a step forward. We got good pressure on the QB, and stopped the run pretty well. I felt like this is a game where our defense could gain some confidence. A good game to build off of for the defense, and it was snatched away mostly by poor play calling in the second half. I hope we can recover because the big west isn't very good, but every game from here on out is a 50/50 proposition at best.

Game was lost in the first half when we decided to keep mixing it up.. and by that I mean PASS! Yeah, that stat just smacks ya in the grill. Ground it out? Good god no! This is Nebraska..pft.. We've never had success doing that.

I don't care what anyone says, our OLine is horrid, and our RBs are just as bad. For God sakes, are we really at the point where we start lining a FB up at RB?? I never feel confident that we can sustain drives just running the ball.

we never even tried, even after very positive run plays.

This!! MR and DL appear to value balanced run/pass attempts over results. Windy day, check. Receivers with stone hands, check. QB with questionable decision making skills, check. Stupidly adhering to a 50/50 run pass philosophy, check. Perfect storm for letting an inferior team stay in a game they have no business being in.
