That should make you equally happy as a Nebraska fan and also hopefully piss you off like me.

Other posters have often challenged my thoughts about recruiting and illustrated proven results about how recruiting translates into championships. I've never disputed these numbers. Hell I believe the recruiting services rarely make a mistake identifying the top 5 to 10 players at each position. If you're top 10 consistently, you can and should win National Championships.

I believe the top 75 to 150 HS players stick out like a sore thumb. These guys rarely bust due to poor evaluation. If they bust, it's due to injury, criminal behavior, poor character, poor study habits, non existent emotional maturity, or terrible work ethic.

However, there are Coaches who can identify ceiling and a players developmental prospects better than others. Some coaches can't see the future ceiling. Some coaches, like Meyer or Saban, don't have to worry about that future development or ceiling and they don't care. But guys like Diaco can do both. They can recruit elite players and identify future studs who fly under the radar. More importantly, Diaco has the ability to motivate. Nebraska is VERY LUCKY to get this guy. HCMR knew what the hell he was doing.

So as a Nebraska fan, you should be happy Diaco is your coach, but you should be pissed off how a Coach at UCONN can evaluate second and 3rd tier prospects better than Nebraska.
