Huskers try to continue their winning ways with 4 games in a row.

Maryland has won 5 of their last 6 games including beating Nebraska last month. Terps are 8-5 in the standings..

Big Résumé game for the Huskers tonight, should be an outstanding game.

The pessimist in me says, it's time to lose. If this game was on the road, I'd say it's a sure bet loss. But being at home evens the playing field for us. Big game as this was one that I have had chalked up as a loss. This win would go a long ways towards getting into the dance.

Another great opportunity tonight. A win means NU can start working on their seed in the tournament; a loss means NU probably needs to find 4 wins in their 6.

With Berk out thinking Fred has to go small ball, at least 15 from Conner to have a chance.
Connor is good for 15, sometimes. Other times its low, single digits. Need more consistency from him down the stretch of the season to take the pressure off Williams and Gary, particularly with Berke on the shelf.

A lot of his variability is how much PT he gets. I would like to see him play more.

No... 19 is the magic number

19 means 6 quad 1 wins and as I mentioned in multiple other basketball threads. No team has ever been left out of the NCAA tournament with 6 quad 1 wins

Maryland - Pick Em (Without Berke I am leaning Maryland, but being at home and the crowd evens my thoughts.)

@Northwestern - Pick Em (If we beat Maryland I see this being an L. If we lose to Maryland I see this as a W)

@Penn St - Pick Em (This one depends on if Penn State comes to play or not)

Michigan - Pick Em (Have a feeling this is going to feel like No sit Sunday and we sqeak out a win

Minnesota - Must Win (Easiest game we could ask for in this conference)

@Ohio State - By far our toughest game left. Give us maybe 30% chanc3

Iowa - Must win (If we don't win this game you might as well keep us out of the tournament, because I can't even think about how crappy the moral will be for this team)

If I was to bet our W's

Maryland - L
@Northwestern - W
@Penn State - W
Michigan - W (This puts us in the Tournament)
Minnesota - W
@Ohio State - L
Iowa - W

Good analysis. I just hope we get Berke back soon and he's close to full go. I never thought I'd say that a month ago, but he's really become an important piece. My hopes for the rest of the schedule really take a hit if he's out 2+ weeks.

Michigan is the only game I’m not confident winning at home the rest of the way.

This quote of Hoiberg from Wilson Moore of the World Herald should excite many of us:

The third center in a potential small-ball lineup is Cale Jacobsen.
A 6-foot-4 guard by trade, Jacobsen doesn’t fit the prototype of a Big Ten post but has enough awareness and savvy for Hoiberg to trust him.

“He just knows everything so well,” Hoiberg said. “He knows the system.”

I don't care how savvy Cale is. He doesn't match up with a 6'9+ post. If we are in this position in any game we are in trouble.

We really should win the NW and PSU games. NW is down two starters, including their best player. PSU has been getting blasted left and right of late.

Seriously, what is wrong with Fred? CJ wouldn’t stick out in a D2, He has no business playing a second in a D1 game that isn’t garbage time. Either Fred has extremely poor judgement, or is trying to cover for poor recruiting. It is unacceptable that we are even having this conversation.

If Sam and Cale or on the floor at the same time, we are doomed. The opponent can focus 5 defenders on Brice, Juwan, and whoever else is playing.

I’m not even sure he’s really 6’4”?
Yeah. I think that would be on a good day. I coached against Cale in HS. He is an awesome kid, and was a great HS athlete at our level. I think guarding a post is asking an awful lot of him. But if anyone would willing to give it a go, it would be Cale.

I mean, there are times where a guy who lives on the bench gets an opportunity and he takes off. I remember Johnny Trueblood finally got some playing time and I think most people were surprised at what he could do. Cale looks like he just wants the ball out of his hands. I think Fred likes his understanding of the gameplan but at the end of the day most players need to have some scoring ability to have value (7'1" shot blockers excepted). Maybe if he got some confidence but I still don't see how he is mentioned for additional playing time as a result of a 6'10" guy going down.

You have to think that CJ would get limited minutes, and only in a limited role. There are likely some scenarios where he can play a few minutes at a stretch to spell someone. If the expectation is that CJ replaces Berke's minutes 1:1 or we have him guarding a low post player all by himself, we are in a heap of trouble.
