2024 Schedule release

LOL@me. After the Michigan blowout I was upset and said Nebraska needs to move back to the Big 12 strictly from a football standpoint based on the new teams that were joining.

But after looking at next year's schedule, coupled with the success the team is having this year, there's a good chance they will be 7-0 by the time they get to OSU. And a good chance after that they go 11-1 or 10-2.

Of course, that's assuming the team stays relatively healthy, doesn't regress mentally by reading their own press clippings, and the QB position drastically upgrades, either through HH improving or getting a new QB from somewhere.

Hate to get too excited, but that schedule is very favorable.

This is exactly why I have wanted to get away from an offense that relies on a stud qb. So what if HH is still our qb next year? He will be experienced and the skill positions have grown up around him. Put together another badass defense and we could win a lot of games.

Compare that to a team like USC. If their qb sucks they might struggle to go bowling.

I actually agree with you, for the most part. The key, however, is having studs around him, so that HH just needs to be a game manager. Like the old NU quarterbacks like Craig Sunberg or Travis Turner or Kiethen McCant. QBs who are good game managers and make the plays when needed.

If HH is that guy then let's roll. If not, we need to roll with someone else.

Why ? Wisconsin straight up has keys to the house and banging our women. Iowa has been eating our lunch till last year. They are tough games and I bet will continue to be. Reality is harsh.
Wisconsin is getting worse and worse each year. They are truly horrible this year. It was 15-14 last year...

Iowa just got ass ****ed by NU last year and that was one of the best Iowa teams ever and one of the worst NU teams ever and NU could have scored 50 that game.

Stop being scared (or if you are not really a Husker fan stop posting here, that is weird)...Frost is gone, Riley is gone.

Wisconsin made a mistake and they are regressing. Iowa made a mistake and kept their lame coach, they suck. You saw it last year.

I have no problems with HH starting next season. However, we do need to get a competent backup, in case HH gets hurt.

we're 2-18 against those teams over the past decade.

so no, until those start becoming wins, they're clearly tough games.

can't let them have the last laugh. the fact they're on a 3-0 streak against us is embarrassing as is. must-win game next year.

So you want to just flush the past and forget about being owned, ok . I'm not scared of shit. I live in the real world, not a video game one. Wisconsin is not going anywhere .They will beat us again, and win the west. Iowa as we know has been a one trick worn out whore, that still has a winning record against us since we joined the conference. We are nothing till we prove it. We should beat them this year but I bet it will be real close. We need to beat Wisky for several years in a row to even begin to talk smack without looking laughable. You seem to live a alternate reality and the truth upsets you. We have sucked like a Kirby vacum, we haven't beaten anybody so far this year. We have hope . We have one week at a time. Embrace that and you'll be better off emotionally.

Two well placed bye weeks. đź‘Ťđź‘Ť

Can we please replace CU with someone else? I don't want to see that clown show in Lincoln.
No! I was in Boulder for the last two losses. I want to be at the revenge tour in Lincoln on September 7.

I am glad we are starting the season with UTEP at home. I think they may have a new coach by then.

So in a 6 week period we play

Ohio State
UCLA
USC
WISC
Iowa

And earlier that year we play Michigan.

Can someone tell me why scheduling 3 guaranteed wins to start the season doesn’t make sense?

The SEC is probably laughing at the Big10 for bringing in USC/UCLA/Oregon/Washington

We just took a tough enough conference and made it pretty much impossible to navigate undefeated.

The patsies up front give you easy wins but also allow your starters to get less wear and tear on their bodies.

In those 6 games, how much playing time will our backups get?

That’s a rough stretch.
Should the BIG go the way of SEC scheduling and only play 8 conference games per season? That way the Huskers and the rest of the BIG can schedule a game against Southeast West Central State U in November.

It always made me laugh when an old Big 8 weakling would beat Nebraska once in a ten year period and all the fans could talk about was “that one time”. And here we are with the same fans…

Can’t wait. Our D next year is going to be nasty. We return everyone except Reimer and Omar Brown (although we will probably lose a couple to the portal).

As for the offense… As much as I hated losing Gabe Ervin, Rahmir Johnson, Marcus Washington, IGC, Kemp, Corcoran, Piper, and Nouili… I’m equally as excited about the progress of Malachi, Emmett Johnson, JE Jenkins, J Doss and J Lloyd.

Looking at that schedule, crazy but we could start 7-0 and end up 7-5. Honestly I think we get back to 9 wins next year IF we have a good offseason in the portal.

Most excited I’ve been for the direction of our program since 2010. Rhule is our guy. GBR!
getting 9 wins this year

This is a great schedule. Four straight home openers, then 3 straight softies, 2 byes, and of all the conference teams we could have gotten, we only get 2 perennial powers...or blue bloods or however we want to classify them and one of those has some serious question marks.

Worst case 8-4 with losses to...
  • sCUm - Assuming Shedeur stays, depends how much Deion recruits to improve, esp linemen. Most people think he will, the only question is how much.
  • Ohio St - They're lightyears ahead of us in just about every facet. Don't see that changing.
  • UCLA - Probably have their best team in a very long time this year, but I think they lose a lot of their talent so they may come back down to normal.
  • USC - Obvious question marks for them. They lose Caleb and some other studs, and possibly their coach and they basically don't play defense. But, they're still loaded with talent and that thing could go a lot of different directions.
Best case 11-1 with a loss to...
  • Ohio St - We ain't beating Ohio St, or at least highly unlikely.
I'll take either or anything in between for year 2. First scenario feels like a typical year 2 team for Rhule. Second scenario feels like a typical year 3 team for him. Which, given that this year feels like a year 2 team for him, seems possible.

What the **** does the past have to do with anything?

Wisconsin has got beat by crap teams this year too. They blow.

"Not going anywhere" Where the hell have they been? They have never done anything.

You are so scared, it is weird.

Look at you: "I am not scared of shit" then a few sentences later "They will laugh at us"

Good lord.

I hope trev continues to make a concerted effort to schedule our old Big 8/12 foes into the future

CU
OU
Texas
Kst
Mizzou

And others
I'd love to see us schedule most of our old Big 8 foes, Kansas, K State, Iowa St., OU, Ok St., Mizzou...

I don't care to ever see CU again unless it's in a bowl game. Their fanbase was despicable during the TO era.

I have never been to a CU game but out of all the places I have heard about it sounds like they have the most annoying fans.

Worse than annoying. sCUm of the earth.
Batteries packed in snowballs, piss filled balloons, keying NE plated cars...

I knew a group of young women who went to Boulder and said they would never return because of how they were treated. They wouldn't even tell me what they were subjected to but one of them turned several shades of red when I asked what happened. F scheduling CU.

Iowa will have new coach next season. Word from some Iowa fans is Bob Stoops coming
obvious bs, but that'd be hilarious to see.

casual fans don't realize how the game was passing him by. their fans have memories like goldfish, but they were ready to move on after his 8-5 season in 2014. his seat once again felt warm in early 2016 when they were 1-2 going in to week 4.

obviously, this was all fan perspective and not admin perspective. however, there's a reason he stepped down immediately after that season. teams like Ohio State and Clemson were eating his lunch, much like how Bo Pelini began to collapse against elite competition.

OU fans will revise history into believing that LR was the reason for the softening of their program. while that may be partially true, Bob did most of the work towards the end of his tenure. the head-scratching losses to inferior teams began way before LR was a part of that program.

You have no facts, just talk. We have beaten Wisconsin Once. They have won the west many times. They just played OSU to the wire last week. They have lost their starting QB, RB's as well. Talk to me after we play them. If we beat them you'll pound your chest but if we lose , you'll say they suck. I see you kids on here every year making no sense. You don't play for Nebraska and anything you do or don't want to except won't make a difference . You are one of the fans that have unrealistic expectations and when it doesn't play out you get upset. If showing respect , understanding football, and having realistic expectations is being " scared " then I'm shaking in my boots.
