I'm not going to claim Tre Bryant is on par with Ameer Abduallah, arguably one of the 10 best RB's in Nebraska history.

However, I have been surprised by the number of people who are dismissing Bryant. This past weekend, I even read a post which argued Nebraska's running backs are the worst they've been in the last 30 years. That poster was already hoping for Bradley to come in and rescue the running game.

I actually think Tre Bryant is going to be an offensive weapon for Nebraska football in 2017. He's versatile, talented, and probably deserved to touch the football more last season. Regardless of that conjecture. Anyway, check out these stats:

True Freshman Ameer Adbullah in 2011 - 42 carries for 150 yards and 3 TD's, 1 reception for 11 yards

True Freshman Tre Bryant in 2016 - 43 carries for 172 yards and 1 TD, 8 catches for 56 yards and 1 TD.

Ameer did average 29.3 yards per return on Kickoffs.
Tre Averaged 22 yards per return on Kickoffs.

2011 Offensive Line included:

Marcel Jones, Jemarcus Hardrick, Spencer Long, Mike Caputo, Jeremiah Sirles, Brent Qvale, Andrew Rodriguez

2016 Offensive line included:

Dylan Utter, Hahn, Corey (I have one leg) Whitaker, Knevel in his first season of work, Conrad in his first season of work, Foster in 3 games, Farmer in his first season of work, and Gates.

In a nutshell, you should probably hold off on the absurd concerns about Tre Bryant. The kid was the St. Louis HS Football player of the year for a reason. He's explosive, versatile, and has a lot of key attributes like vision, patience, and excellent balance after contact.
