Check out the starters. 9 of the 11 starters on offense were from Nebraska high schools. Lets get that back.

MAG you are my favorite poster (despite your Denver junk aka Raiders for Life). Just throwing that out there.

I imagine SF will bring back the Nebraska way, but the Nebraska way fit for times (and then some).

Wow, feels like it's been a lot longer than 20 years. I'm ready for the WE mentality again.

So what are you getting at?

We all know its about recruiting the 4 and 5 star players. If you don't have the skill and talent to compete, you will end up sucking like Wisconsin.

The fans will eat 'Frost'ed flakes for breakfast if he doesn't get a top 15-30 recruiting class every year. Seriously. I sh!t you not.

We all know it took TO about 10 years to start competing for national championships at a school that had just won back-to-back ones. And after a couple great years, it took him about another 10 years to do it again.

In this day and age, we do not have the patience to wait for this Frost guy to build a team out of 2 and 3 star Nebraska kids. If he recruits a "diamond in the rough" Nebraska kid like TO did after firing Bill Callahan, the fans will burn Moos to the stake and throw mean words at Frost from behind their computers.

Our new coach had better do it OUR NEW NEBRASKA WAY instead of the old Nebraska way, or else. Callahan and Riley have shown us that we can get the 4 star kids from coast to coast, so Frosty better damn well do it too! If he doesn't, well, I guess we all clamored for the wrong guy.

We don't have time to wait. It's been 18 years since our last conference championship! Frost better do it the way we want it done or we will never get back to where we were in the 90s.

End of sarcastic rant. Laughing

It truly sucks that we can't get speed from inside our borders.

When was the last good player to come out of Nebraska? Frost?

Never heard of this Fant guy. Or any the other ones that went to Iowa and turned into Husker a$$ kickers.

"Nebraska doesn't have the talent that it used to."

Well, either that or the recruiting sites don't go to Nebraska to rate high school kids...

It's not like an 8-man kid or an 11-man one outside of Lincoln or Omaha has ever gone on to excel in D1 football...

Would also be nice if the state was producing 5-stars like Ahman Green and Scott Frost again. That makes life a little easier.

It very curious that as soon as recruiting sites gained traction on the internet all of the sudden Nebraska became devoid of talent. Seems like it was about that time N.Dakota st and some other schools around us also became a bit better.

You could put me in the camp that believed the recruiting stars back during the Callahan era when Solich "wasn't recruiting well" and thought we were only sucking because we weren't getting the best recruits from the coasts and Texas...

After watching the Riley and iaco debacle and witnessing Iowa and Wisconsin kicking our a$$, I now realize that our coaching and development was probably lacking more than our recruiting. :(

The 1997 team was atypical. But it does strike home the fact that there is some talent in Nebraska, and if the coaching staff invests in it, you can build a team around it. Get the Nebraska guys first, then load up on what you can steal from Colorado, Missouri, and Iowa, and then get the speeeeeed from Florida, Texas, and California.

Frost absolutely destroyed an A&M linebacker on a crackback block that game.

I just watched that game last week. That block was a thing of beauty. Most fullbacks couldn't do it like that. Frosty was one tough dude.

The one thing that people NEVER bring up is how often we had to travel 1600 miles to play an away game in order to compete for national championships. Florida State, Miami, even Clemson got to practice and be at home a lot longer than us, and were much more familiar with the playing surface and surroundings than we were. We had to round up 100+ people and move the operation across the country, at the end of a long season, to compete with often top 3 teams who were playing at home. That is complete BS. Imagine Miami in the late 80s having to come up and play at arrowhead stadium on January 1st..or even travel to Minneapolis to play in the dome against us on AstroTurf. That is why our showings in the fiesta bowl were always much better than in the orange. That is a paradigm that is somewhat broken now that there is a playoff.
