I was just listening to the podcast of S&B this morning talking with Sipple. (I know, I know...he is a total pinhead at times)

With that said, Gary read an article on the air that Sipple wrote after the Northwestern game in 2015 and they were discussing how the same article would apply now, two years later. One of the pivotal statements in the article was that Nebraska had to make sure they did not allow themselves to be satisfied with being 3-5 (at that point in 2015). Tow years later there was very little tangible progress that they could point to on the field, or with the apparent mindset of the team.

The conversation turned to the NIU loss and how ill prepared our team appeared to be...how the team doesn't play like it has something to prove.

Ultimately they ended up where this discussion usually does, with the fact that the problems are deeper than talent and are most to do with culture.

The more and more I look at things, the less I care about depth issues, whether we should have gone the juco route, etc. and the more I look at the fact that the culture of the team is not what it should be in year 3, and I really struggle with the idea that Riley can ever get it there. The team saying that they love their coach is not enough. Most teams would say that. It is what Benning called a "unified vision." We don't have it, and at this point I don't think we ever will under Riley. That may not even be all his fault, but it doesn't fix the problems either way.

With that said, I will be rooting on the boys Saturday, hoping they take down Northwestern and Pat "I got my sunglasses at Bucky's" Fitzgerald. GBR.
