14 or 15 portal players will be taken. Updated 11 and counting

All athletic dudes it seems.

Still need OL, because if we’ve learned anything, Coach Raiola has the ability to turn a good dude into an average dude, but never an average dude into a good dude. Need guys coming in who have been taught by someone else.

Now it’s time to start drinking though…can’t do the in-laws coming over for Christmas without starting early and exorbitant amounts of Fireball + beer.

I agree with a lot of your takes but not this one about Donovan. I believe Dana when he says Donovan is as good as any O line coach he’s been around.

We add 2 o-linemen and RB and I’ll love this portal class. Probably need to send some dead weight packing and take more than 15. (IMO) So many good players out there and we’re already at 11. Hate to have us close up shop before new players enter the portal.
Would like to get at least 1 O lineman and RB this portal. When is the next portal window? We can always grab more next go around. Next spring?

“With the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff, the postseason will be longer. Athletes on teams that compete in the College Football Playoff and later bowl game will be allowed to enter an additional five-day transfer portal window in January after the portal closes.”

“The spring window in April remains. The portal will only be 10 days, lasting from April 16, 2025, and shutting down on April 25, 2025. The transfer portal will open for 30 days whenever a head coach leaves their program, allowing athletes to leave and decide on their future, according to NCAA guidelines.“

Not sure but I think it was in the same press availability where he talked about transfers. I remember the specific quote about Donovan because it stuck out. It wasn’t he’s a good coach. It was he’s as good as anybody I’ve been around. Pretty high praise.
We’ll just agree to disagree. It is what it is.

I know you don’t like the job Donovan has done. My view is that some of it is the OCs he’s worked for and their offensive design. Both Rhule and Dana seem to thing he’s a good coach. I’m not qualified to judge whether he’s a good coach or not. He can’t make the blocks for his guys.

O-Line we might be able to live without. We had a lot of young dudes that are hopefully going to come into their own this spring.

RB. I have no idea. I think we will get to see Ives play some Saturday but we will be badly thin this spring at RB and looks like the portal is drying up on RBs.

Exactly. While it would be nice to have the good ol’ days back and Nebraska have 75 walk ons and a roster of 170, those days are dead. Old timey college football is dead. This is a 500 billion dollar a year business with free agency and huge payouts to the elite players and coaches. College football is now about acquiring by any means possible the best 44-50 players you can, buttressed by another 50 or so for depth. We need to get on that train and ride it instead of lamenting the loss of walk ons
Since money isn't a factor, the NCAA should allow teams to play a JV schedule. 45 man roster, players on the 105 can play but other JV players (walk ons) don't count toward the 105. Totally separate coaches, practices, locker room from the regular team. Gives kids an opportunity to play, a few would prove themselves and move up. It would also be a way to get backups on the 105 or redshirts some game experience. I bet games would even be televised or streamed.

Sorry for the foolish talk. This idea won't take off because it takes work, planning and won't make schools a mountain of cash.

Fact is Donovan is a good OL coach. It's obvious to many of us that some think coaches are miracle workers and when they don't get results immediately those people turn on those coaches. I don't get too upset with people who disparage some of our coaches it's their right but when an OC the likes of Holgorsen see's value in a coach like Donovan I'll take his word for it. This whole dislike of certain coaches is a personal issue with some, and it will forever be so.

Starts about the 5:00 minute mark.

This is not helpful… now we will have guys like Kong forever label Dana a liar the instant he does something Kong doesn’t like. Probably will start right after the bowl game, sooner even, if something negative happens during the game.

Whatever it takes to flame Husker fans. Gonna be a looooong off season.

I've got a bridge to sell some of you guys. You really think Rhule came in here, replaced literally every single coach, except the one with almost zero experience who's position was horribly underperforming, because he actually thought he was a good coach? And you think he and Dana actually think he's one of the best in the business? Of course they don't. He's tied to Dylan. Period. Doesn't mean he sucks or should necessarily be fired. I think he's probably serviceable, but don't be so naive. Of course they're going to say all that. Some of you need to take an intro class in coach speak.

Yup, coaches get to NU...get hyped about their 80 million dollar contract sit down in that seat in the head coaches office and then wonder how they are going to get the talent to Lincoln to actually win, when most talent is hundreds if not thousands of miles away. The fact that the #1 qb in a class was packaged with the oline coach made it easy to keep him.

“I’ll take ‘posts you don’t see during the regular season but see in the off season’ for 1,000 Alex”

“they don't get results immediately” can you define immediately for me? He’s going into year 4. I don’t consider people going in to year 4 ata job as new or still trying to get systems in place. And if it takes them 4+ years to do it, I’m thinking they probably aren’t good. Keep in mind POTUS gets 4 years to do a much more difficult job before we vote to see if he is doing a good enough job to get 4 more years.

And yes Holgorsen see's value in a coach. His name is Dylan

How many off-season championships do you, yourself claim the Huskers have? JFC

I don’t disagree with this. I have no doubt he’s somewhere in between. What I tire of is the harpooning that will surely take place when the first missed block happens and the flaming of Huskers fans by our own fans.

It is what it is, I guess, but I could do without the overkill as it relates to certain posters.

There are posters here who simply post their opinions that I pay attention to. They may sprinkle in examples why they believe that way. Not over the top, just straight shooting.

I would love more of that.

Sure, from the dictionary:
immediately
[iˈmēdēətlē]
adverb
at once; instantly: Winking

Kong wasn't for hiring Dana anyway. Hated the idea of running the air raid. He said we should hire an OC that would run a service academy office at one point.
I called for us to hire Dana 1 day after the 2023 season ended.

I still hate the idea of running the air raid and hope we never do because it will never work here.

I’ve always said we should run an under center, power gap scheme. And that Army’s coach would probably do well here.

You will find nothing but proof on this site of the above in my posting history

And yes I think Uncle Donnie is a shitty, unqualified OL coach.

Sounded a little hare brained on the surface. But the more I think about it, you might have a better idea than anything else I’ve heard floating around. We all agree that CFB needs reform and regulation. Nobody, other than current D1 athletes, think this new reality is best form for everyone involved. (players, coaches, administrators, fans)

Won’t fix every problem, NIL and the portal need to be addressed, but I would (in theory) mitigate some of the collateral damage issues with the new 105 man roster limit.

So that’s confusing cause you said

It's obvious to many of us that some think coaches are miracle workers and when they don't get results immediately those people turn on those coaches

I didn’t expect him to get results instantly but after year 3…🤷‍♂️

When should we expect good results then? Year 5 or 10?

Maybe 18-20 years to be fair. He needs to have them developed from birth before he can be held accountable.

When?

Use your words. Calling my wife a boar and threatening me with physical violence won’t do, unfortunately.
Several weeks ago.

Huh? I don’t make threats. Promises. IF I had referenced your wife I would have used the appropriate word for a female pig. I’m sure you’re the only pig in the family though. 🐷😁

Is this not you?

You have your meaning. I have made mine. The only banging I’ll be doing with that Princess is my knuckles on his jaw.

I don’t want to get into it because I like you and respect you, despite you talking about my infant and toddler’s tits
