Going back to the 1991 season. And by "worst" I'm referring to talent
10. 2011 UT Chattanooga - Believe it or not, this was Nebraska's 1st game as a member of the Big Ten.
9. 1992 Middle Tennessee State - FCS at the time, but actually kind of competitive for that level.
8. 1993 North Texas - FCS team, but competitive in the Southland Conference
7. 2005 Maine - Huskers set a team record with 11 sacks that week
6. 2002 McNeese State - not quite the SEC Speed version that nearly beat Ameer and crew in 2014.
5. 2006 Nicholls State- give Bill Callahan some credit. He used to know how to beat the hell out of these teams.
4. 2018 Bethune-Cookman - BCU actually finished 2nd in the conference and won 7 games, but they were overmatched by a bad Husker team.
3. 2004 Western Illinois - Leathernecks won 4 games that season, and 3 of those wins came over D2 or NAIA teams.
2. 2021 Fordham - Since 2011, FU has played 9 games vs. Group of 5 FBS programs. They are allowing 45 ppg in those contests, and haven't played any Power 5 teams. Current Coach Joe Conlin has only faced two FBS teams in his career as a College Football coach. Fordham is also under the FCS scholarship limit as an Academic institution. They only allow 60 full scholarships and only 15 incoming freshmen can receive a full ride each signing period. That means there will likely only be about 50 scholarship players on the field for Fordham tomorrow.
1. 2012 Idaho State- ISU beat an NAIA Team named Black Hills State the week before playing Nebraska. That was their only win of the season. They were 0-9 vs. FCS opponents. The fact that Fordham can read and do long division makes me think Idaho State was worse than Fordham.
Long story short:
Nebraska is really scratching the bottom of the barrel to buy a win this week.
