How can a coach that was able to win at Iowa State can't hardly win a game to save his life at Nebraska?

He was way ahead of the curve on utilizing transfers. He brought in some talented players who had some character/off court issues at other schools, built an incredible chemistry, and had everyone buying in 100% It sounds weird to even say now, but transfers had a negative stigma, even 10 or so years ago.

Now the transfer portal is a normal part of life for teams and players of all levels - thats an edge Hoiberg no longer has.

We’re all asking the same questions you, and the rest of the league, is asking. Some of the performances this year have some of us wanting to scrap basketball, and add hockey.

Nebraska doesn't have a college basketball history that Iowa State has had. Johnny Orr and Tim Floyd were pretty good. Fred Hoiberg arrived at a college basketball desert, with excellent facilities, when he arrived in Lincoln. The pandemic didn't help.

The pandemic hurt everyone, not just Nebraska.

Then why did guys like Danny Nee and Tim Miles have winning seasons at least half the time?

Neither of them had to get their program off the ground right as a pandemic shut down the country and noone could visit.

It would be nice if our admin would stop screwing over the recruiting efforts though. They did it with Miles toward the end and they did it with Hoiberg too.

Imagine how good this team would be with Keyonte Johnson at the 3 on a starting 5 with Walker, Breidenbach, Bandomel and Griesel. They would be in the tournament.
