I hope we get back to being a physical smash mouth team again. Growing up I was so proud to be a fan and see Nebraska lead the nation in rushing almost every year. We were almost always the more physical team and everyone (including opposing teams) knew it. Teams knew it was gonna be a long tough day playing us. IMO, that all starts in practice.
I wanna hear how the practices are harder than the games. That our players are sick of hitting each other and can’t wait to hit someone else. I miss hearing about practices being so intense that a few fights break out from players going so hard.
This is something I thought we would see again with Frost as coach. It just didn’t happen and I’m not sure why. It’s like he forgot what made us special when he played.
I hope our next HC will bring back what made us a national brand. IMO, that’s what we’ve been missing for 20 years. Saying all that, which coach would be the best candidate to do that?
