As posted earlier today, it's widely assumed that St. John's assistant Matt Abdelmassih would follow Fred Hoiberg to Nebraska, should Hoiberg officially accept the NU job as expected.

We've been hearing about a couple other names that could be on the radar to fill out Hoiberg's (hypothetical) staff...

One is Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College head coach Hank Plona, who has been at IHCC for the past four seasons. It just so happens that the Warriors have two DI prospects ready to hit the market.

Tomas Woldetensae, a sophomore guard from Bologna, Italy, led IHCC with 17.3 ppg and made 100 3-pointers last season, shooting 47.6 percent from behind the arc. The lefty also made 88.5 percent of his free throws and will end his career as the school's all-time free throw percentage leader.

Torrey Patton, a sophomore guard who played at Akron as a freshman, averaged 14.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. The Dayton, Ohio, native shot just over 50 percent from the field and 74 percent from the foul line.

Indian Hills is also where former Omaha Burke standout Anthony Bratton, now a 6-8, 225, sophomore forward, attends. Bratton averaged 4.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game this season.

The other coach we've heard is Charlie Henry, who was Hoiberg's director of player development at Iowa State in 2013-14 and then a full-time assistant at ISU from 2014-15. Henry then followed Hoiberg to the Chicago Bulls and served as an assistant coach from 2015-17.

In August of 2017, Henry took over as head coach of the Bulls' G-League franchise, the Windy City Bulls, where he still serves and just took the team to its first ever G-League playoff appearance.

Speculation is that Hoiberg would get a hefty budget to assemble his coaching staff, and word is NU could potentially double the assistant coach salaries it paid this past season. Michael Lewis was the highest paid assistant last year at $256,200.
