I'm excluding everyone from before my time.... here it goes...

Lawrence Phillips
Ahman Green
Ameer Abdullah
Correll Buckhalter
Rex Burkhead
Dan Alexander
Roy Helu, Jr.
Cory Ross
Brandon Jackson
Marlon Lucky
Darran Dedrick

Going into it with little time:
- Roger Craig
- Ahman Green
- Rozier
- Jeff Kinney
- Roy Helu
- Ameer
Can get about anything done with this group; and they excel under pressure.

Interested in how folks justify putting Abdullah over Ahman Green? Is it that Green went pro and did not shatter all the records? I like Ameer as much as anyone, but Ahman was incredible.

I think more than anything it is tough to narrow down, and depending how old you are it has an effect on your vote. Green was incredible.

Ross to helu is essentially tied though I feel Ross was vastly underrated and Helu was overrated. Always liked Alexander in a slight edge over buckhalter. Yes I know the pro careers were better for Helu and buck but this is about Nebraska. Also wonder what woulda happened with Jackson had he played for real coaches.
Wasn't alive for Rozier but he'd be top three. Also think childs and benning were probably better than everyone except maybe Amber up but they werent full time starters.

Your list left out Jeff Kinney so I added him to my top 10. Toughest SOB runner we have ever had here.

1. LP
2.Rozier
3.Green
4.Ameer
5. Kinney
6.Craig
7.Keith Jones
8. Helu
9.C. Jones
10. Redwine

As far as the ones I watched at Nebraska:
1. Rozier
2. LP
3. Green
4. Calvin Jones
5. Helu
6. Alexander
7. Burkhead
8. Ameer
9. Keith Jones
10. Scott Baldwin

I'll stop there. I have Ameer lower than some, in part due to his fumbling issues at very inopportune times. That fumble against MSU deep in their territory last year may well have been the difference, and there were two consecutive bowl losses that he fumbled right when Nebraska seemed on the cusp of getting to victory.

That said, he was a great I-back at Nebraska and I still have him at 8, but I would have had him higher had it not been for the fumbles.

Hard to put anyone over Rozier. Heisman winner. Reliable. Sans a questionable defense, he would have been part of 1 or 2 championship teams. I don't recall if he missed any meaningful time on the field.

LP maybe had more raw talent, and would have won a Heisman, but hard to overlook the massive amount of games he missed due to his suspension.

As such, my rankings are as follows:

1. Mike Rozier
2. Ahman Green
3. Lawrence Philips
4. Ameer Abdullah
5. Roger Craig
6. Keith Jones
7. Calvin Jones
8. Jarvis Redwine
9. Ken Clark
10. Correl Buckhalter

I like this one. Anyone who doesn't have Rozier in 1st or 2nd never saw him play - he still holds the NCAA record for yards per carry in a season.

Keep in mind the OLines of both running backs. If Ameer were to have run behind the OLines of '95 - '97, he would have won the Heisman.

I also think running styles carry a lot of weight with people. I've always liked a jitterbug. Ameer's agility was far beyond what Ahman ever had, IMO. As was his vision. He was much quicker laterally than Ahman, but Ahman was much faster and stronger.

Good points on the O-Lines. Would have been interesting to see some of the more recent guys have a dominant O-Line.

Pickem' after the first two.
Florida was afraid of LP in the Fiesta Bowl. Never seen a top team fear a back the way the Gators did LP. After he went 40 yards for TD early in the game the focus on him freed up Fraizier to run wild. K State game - LP carried the team on his strong back. MSU the game before he was suspended - how many did he take the distance? Rozier is the only Husker back that compares. Neither of those two fumbled. Ameer killed us with turnovers - UCLA, etc. The great ones almost never turned the ball over. LP in his brief time in the NFL had some great games - 80 TD for 49ers. Ran away from Pro defense. Would like TO's honest opinion on this list.

A lot of great RBs have graced this field. Then you go back to the 60s Harry Wilson, tony Davis, dicky Davis, Frank Solich, Thunder Thorton and earlier the great Bobby Reynolds. Really unbelievable not to see backs the quality of Calvin Jones, Rex Burkhead, Roy Helu, Keith Jones and Joe Orduna not in the Top Ten.

Tyreese Knox was a great back for us. As an underclassmen be backed up Keith Jones along with Ken Clark. But he shined for us in big games. He was having a great game for us against Florida State when he fumbled at their one yard line. They drove the length of the field and beat us. Ken Clark started over him the next year in my opinion because of that fumble. If not for that fateful carry he could of been a top five all time Nebraska back.

Knox's 6.5 ypc average is top five i believe for Nebraska backs over 200 carries.

I did a quick search and Rozier, Redwine, A. Green and Calvin Jones are the only Nebraska running backs to have a better YPC average over 200 carries in a career. Rathman, Keith Jones, D. Brown, Ken Clark, Dubose all have less YPC. So he sits fifth so far...

Tyreese was a very good, very powerful back. He certainly deserves to in the top 20-30. Not to diminish his contributions as I believe he may have been one of those players to visit the coaches doghouse a time or two while often entering the game after the D was beat on and perhaps a little worn down, ahla Craig Johnson. But tyreese was big, strong and fast, a very nice back.

Dan Alexander over Rozier??? Rozier had almost as many rushing yards in 1983 as Alexander had in his entire career.

Big Dan was bigger and stronger. Maybe with a much speed. Rozier arguably had a better offensive line and Gill and Fryer and Jeff Smith to get him rest. I'm a big fan of Rozier but I really liked what Alexander brought.
