Portal time. NU and others

I do not have a Lake Cottage, but have been able to live in Kodiak, Alaska for over 36 years now.

I do not have your cash, but I did fulfill my life by living out my dream of 7 years old, and made it to Alaska.

College towns, pffft, but even in Kodiak;

KSucks!
I don't have someone else's cash either. But someone always seems to have mine or wants mine or feel their entitled to mine

The arrogance of that coach and his offspring are personally my least liked type of Human beings on this earth. I would like nothing more then for them all to experience something extremely negative in their lives to learn to have some humility and humbleness. Just the exact opposite of how I tell my son to be and act. D I S G U S T I N G

Better watch out. Some posters on here get pretty emotional about comments like this.

I just had a plumber charge me $850 for 2 hours and I had supplied the necessary hydrant. A neighbor is dating this young recovering alcoholic so I thought I would give him some work. Didn’t know I was going to be the one who got bent over. 😡

Tell me about it. Why is there such a shortage of plumbers, electricians and HVAC people??? Easiest $ there is. Plumbers motto. Your s**t is my gravy.

Saw Cristobal trying to pull some possible portal talent. Got a 3 state trooper escort to a South Beach steakhouse.

I first moved to Fairbanks in 1984, Kodiak in 1988.

Coldest I saw in the 4 years was -55. Was brutal, but what I wanted to experience. Outfit I was working for got a job in Kodiak in 1987, and asked me to join the following spring, early June here, and I never have left.

Permanent habitation here for over 7,500 years shows a long term agreement with my decision to live here.

It is just so amazing to see bears and orcas.

Orcas do not come ashore, only devil Stellars sealions.
And Salmon, all summer!

Similar to a trout, but bigger, and so much better!

I love steaks, but there is not a steak that cannot be made better with scallops or salmon.

And butter, lol

Because in Nebraska it is against the law for a minor to do basically anything in the trades. We put an addition on our house about 6 years ago and I asked the contractor and the HVAC guy if they hired high schoolers for the summer in hopes they would hire my sons. I worked for a plumbing/HVAC place all through HS and college. Having those skills saved me thousands of dollars over the years.

Anyway, they told me that all that they can do for them is basically be gofers until they are 18. They can't even drive or operate any type of power tools. We can't expect these kids not to know what that type of work is like and then all of a sudden go to trade school after they graduate high school and find out how hard they have to work. That type of work ethic needs to be developed early.

We are literally committing suicide as a society.

There is an awesome South Park episode where tradesmen become the richest men on earth displacing tech guys. It is a riot!!!

They are going to be able to name their own price. Heck, sounds like they are doing that already according to dinglefritz.

Facts - the lack of ability to even try the most basic of tasks with cars or homes is astounding.

I got my engineering license in Nebraska. I since left the state and I have engineered major projects all over the country. I hold a license in 6 states and have received reciprocity for projects in several others.

I work remote and could live almost anywhere. I thought about moving back to Nebraska and applied to reactivate my license. I got turned down because when I got my license, I could qualify with a physics degree and 2 additional years of experience and they changed the educational requirement to require a 4-yr accredited engineering degree with no equivalency. I appealed and got turned down.

So I didn't move back. They were happy to give me a license then, but with an additional 25 years of experience they aren't. The protectionist mentality is doing the state a disservice.

Really pissed me off. I could have rented what I needed and done it myself. I’ve done that before.

Ehhh this was a task I’ve done before but I thought I would throw the guy a bone and save some of my time. Got screwed.

Dingle- I definitely wasn’t talking about you with my comment. There’s a collective of younger generation I have seen incapable of modest improvements. I hire a lot of work done for larger projects that I don’t have the time to do.

YouTube has been awesome to learn new tasks and repairs and it’s always funny to have something torn apart and my wife freaking out because of the parts scattered about while making fixes. 🤣

considering Sanders went 31-42 for 393 yards, 2 TD and 0 INT, I would hope we were bringing the house

however, I don't recall that being the case

they carved us up any which way they wanted
Really it was the 2nd half I believe. Wasn't it 0-0 with like 6 minutes left in the half before Sims went on a one man turnover mission. Still think he had something going on with Vegas. Never have I seen anything like that.

Likely mutual parting.
Only Rhule knows, we can’t know.
Only non-contributors will leave.

A combo of wishful thinking and head in the sand.
Spring portal has now closed. Care to list the contributors who left? Or even just simply list any of the players who left? Rhule absolutely killed the portal this year. NU is a predator, not prey.

Not as many left as we need to leave. I’m not worried about the numbers but it’s going to be interesting to see how they work the scholarship numbers.

The numbers don't matter. Numbers were a concern 8 years ago. This is a new era. A lot of players are on NIL walk-on deals. Plus, what's the NCAA going to do anyway?
I’m wondering how the lawsuit and Title IX all play out. Both could affect limits on scholarships potentially.

Now that boys can compete in girls’ sports, Title IX is no longer valid

Had not looked at it like that and while I agree one million percent....as long as the boys are going to be treated as actual girls, it certainly has me wondering how this ends.

BUT a bunch of nil and scholarships can be a waste of money. What is spent unproductively is squandered. I'm ok with it now but moving forward we need to pay attention to this too
