Just got a chocolate lab, and night number 1 was brutal. I had one other dog in my life, and he had a rough first night as well, but I forgot how terrible it is. Any tips on helping with the whining, heading into night #2? We have some stuffed animals in the kennel, and he is in our room. Also put a ticking clock under the blanket, as I've heard they identify that with a heart beat of their little bros / sisters.
Also, any advice on what people have done when they have to work, and can't be around all day? I am thinking I might have to bring him with me for a few more weeks until I can leave him outside during the day.
