I was raised understanding that when I gave my word to someone It was like a contract. I guess I'm too old to understand how a young man can give his word that he is going to attend a University, and then, at the last minute decide he is not going to keep his word. We can make all the excuses we want for these young men, but when it comes right down to it, they are not keeping their promise. I have never heard of a University, at least NU, pulling an offer at the last minute. I realize recruiting is a tough business of musical chairs and universities including NU, put out a lot of offers and if player A commits, but player B who commits later, the University, including NU may pull the offer from player A. Maybe that's an argument could make when asked why didn't keep his wor, but that doesn't make it a good process for either party. Frankly, I am disgusted with the whole mess.
