Would Oregon Have Hired Mediocre Mike?

Why would Nebraska think he and his buddies were our savior? It isn't his aw shucks style in contrast to Bo is it? It can't stand listening to him ramble.

With all the $ being thrown around could we have come up with coordinators that didn't perform like this was their first rodeo. Lincoln Riley calls his own plays giving the Sooners an extra position (line) coach. Now there is an idea. TO thought of it first though.

And if we're so great recruiting why do we have only one big receiver that can threaten a defense. Who else have we got? Same with OLB. We have a guy that try hard but....

No, they would not have hired him.

This. Mikes a great guy and fits the "classy" coach. If you want to see what true blue bloods do or the top programs look no further than OSU or Mich. I don't think a coach of that caliber is realistic at Neb. Or look at the master plan taking place in OU. That was a genius hire at age 34. That's our only hope. Some young stud that we can brain wash it's still the 90s.

Look we had no money back when Bo was fired. They did not want to fire Bo until Big 10 money started coming in and they didn't have to pay off his stupid contract. But Bo was so bad that they had to make a change. So they had to pay millions to Bo, while still not getting equal pay in the big 10, and they had to make hire someone to take over a program where a 9+ win coach was being fired. The only guy for that job was a 60 year old coach who was going to be fired anyway. MM is basically living out the remainder of Bo's contract at a cheaper rate than the average coach. The program has been cleansed of its negativity and MM will lose enough games that letting him go will seem reasonable. With Bo's contract paid off, Big 10 money coming in full, the AD will then have the money to make a big push at a big fish. I expect a big name to get hired in 2019. Look, Texas is really bad right now across the board, if we get a big hire after next year then a big recruiting class is in the offering right away. We were great in 90s when Texas and California teams were bad, and we could recruit in those areas well. When those teams are strong we will suffer because those recruiting areas dry up.

Well I will say this about Oregon State firing him, looks like to me after watching Minn. destroy Oregon State that they may wish he had stayed.
What? It's only Anderson's third year. It's Mike fault the team is so bad. Anderson needs another couple years before you can evaluate him.

While I think Lincoln Riley is the real deal....its hard to say at this point. He's taking over for a coaching Hall of Famer.

It took 4 years or so for the wheels to fall off with Solich in the same position, and Solich has some of the early positive indicators (winning Big Games, good recruiting classes) that later went by the wayside.

To be fair, they wanted Rhule who is having a tough go at Baylor thus far. They may have got it right with Taggert. Seems like a good fit.

Way to early to say they got it right. Taggert's strength coaches put kids in the hospital and I believe an OC was forced to resign. The Ducks have beat one weak team and one average team so far. Wait until they starting playing the Pac 12 teams. The Oregon fans can turn quickly.
