Riley recruited him as a DBRiley recruited Wilson. Same dual threat style qb
Terry Wilson was recruited as a QB, and only as a QB.Riley recruited him as a DB

Haha my bad. Been following riley to long. He once recruited Russel Wilson as a DBEveryone knows that except for CFBfan70.
Source? Several teams considered Wilson as a DB because of his lack of height, but as far as I can find his interest was only regional and his only offers were from NC State and Duke. (Both as a QB)Haha my bad. Been following riley to long. He once recruited Russel Wilson as a DB
I give up my brain isnt functioning properly. Seneca Wallace was the QB Riley recruited as a DB.Source? Several teams considered Wilson as a DB because of his lack of height, but as far as I can find his interest was only regional and his only offers were from NC State and Duke. (Both as a QB)
Not being combative, I just can't find anything linking Riley with Wilson at all.
Eventually you'll pick the right recruitI give up my brain isnt functioning properly. Seneca Wallace was the QB Riley recruited as a DB.
This fascination with "mobile QBs" is like a plague that had infected Husker fans. Hurts is a meh player, but the line he plays behind is one of the best around. Also, he hasn't ever been tested because he has the best defense in the game on his team so he is never having to do anything to go out and win the game.
Nebraska doesn't need a mobile QB, it simply needs a real QB
Mobile QB is simply not the same as running QB.
If a QB is mobile enough to extend plays and to pick up a first down with their feet they can be effective in college football.
A defense may have to account for a running QB with a linebacker, but if the QB is not an accurate passer, then you can get away without that defender most of the time. To slow down the Nebraska offense this year, you simply had to take away the QB run game and make Armstrong throw the ball. Him throwing the ball was a 50/50 rate of success.
Mayfield and Browning are throwers first and runners a distant second. They can move around the pocket enough to extend plays, will surprise teams with a QB draw, but their biggest runs come when the defense is unable to slow them down as passers and have to dedicate another defender to coverage.
All we need is a mobile QB like:
Carnes, transferred to Northern Iowa.
Green, transferred to Tulsa.
Spano, quit from injuries.
Martinez.
Darlington, life flighted from field.
Turner, immediately moved to wide receiver.
Dillman, moved to defensive end at N. Texas.
Armstrong.
Stanton, transferred to UNLV, benched.
That's one heck of a group, we definitely need more like the above!

And I believe TMart was headed for the defensive backfield at least initially. And you forgot AJ Bush.

People have slagged on TMart and Tommy, but compared to the rest of the QB roster we've had over the past few years, we were lucky to have them. That says tons about our inability to evaluate quarterback talent the last 5+ years...WOW!!

Despite all of their warts they did have good careers at Nebraska.
4 year starters. Accumulation of stats does not necessarily equal good careers.
One thing that needs to be mentioned is pro style qb means guys that can actually throw the ball, not that they can't run. Usually dual threat is code for qbs that can't throw it in the ocean. Give me the pro style all day with a little mobility.
TO recruited Marshall Full as a DB, it happens.Haha my bad. Been following riley to long. He once recruited Russel Wilson as a DB
I would take another Jerry Tagge, Vince Ferragamo or David Humm..........I don't believe our staff would know how to use him? Shame with our history. I wish the best for this staff but can't help but dream about another Tommy Frazier or Turner Gill.
By the way JH is another one of those Houston high school products.

Gdowski and Taylor would've killed it in Riley's offense.Compared to what we have dealt with lately...I would take a Gerry Gdowski, Steve Taylor, and Keithen McCant in a heart beat.

I think he played at a time when I was kind of out of the loop on Husker football and just don't remember much about him.McCant was a pretty good passer himself.
