Ok. Feel free to get back to me on the opener 2021 if their isn't a single law enforcement officer in the entire city of Minneapolis. I'll be there cheering on the huskers with my family so if I don't make it back cheer extra loud for me during the 2021 season.

I'm just quoting the elected officials in MN. Maybe you should tag them with your post, not me.

You can thank Ernie Chambers for this. He is more worried about protecting mountain lions than he is the people in his district.

How he continues to be elected over and over is beyond me.
Actually, it is lower now that it was during any of the 4 years (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012) he was away from the Unicameral.

In other words, I don't think it has much to do with Ernie Chambers.

And, I'm guessing that, unless you live in his district, you really have no clue as to whether or not he cares about them.

2021 season opener is in Dublin Ireland.. the season finally is in Minneapolis, day after Thanksgiving...

I don’t think people in this thread are saying no changes need to be made. The question on the table is how far do you go? Disbanding the police is a pretty big step. I know the problems in Minneapolis are sizable. But is disbanding the right answer? Guess we’ll find out...
outlaw the police union and you fix 90% of the problems. Then go after Amy Klobucar's ass for refusing to prosecute Chauvin TWICE when she had the chance.

Thankful to not live in such a liberal area. Someday I could see myself moving to Wyoming. Probably will be the last bastion of conversativism in the future.
Mmmm not so fast. Unfortunately they're being invaded by people fleeing California.

Minnesota's job market will take a huge hit but at least everyone's everyone's insurance rates are going to go through the roof.

You didn't think the insurance companies were just going to absorb all these riots did you?

There's a news story this morning that a company with a small manufacturing plant in south Minneapolis which was burned when the neighboring Target was looted, will not rebuild in Minneapolis. They're going elsewhere and taking their 50 manufacturing jobs with them.

The person was also a Donald Trump supporter who hated black people. People literally don't give a crap he's moving his company

As someone who works in the insurance industry, riots and other civil unrest are normally not covered by insurance. Maybe they had a specific policy but a lot of those small business are done. And the people who spent their life savings on them are just out unless the government steps in, which is entirely possible.

You buy the propaganda hook line and sinker don't you. Whether or not you or the left likes that manufacturing plant owner, losing 50 jobs is not insignificant to the people in the community that held those jobs. Over the past couple of weeks I've read and watched multiple stories of black shop owners who say they don't think they'll re-build their burned out stores in that neighborhood. It will be interesting to see what Target does with their stores in heavily looted areas across the country. I expect there to be many vacant store fronts and piles of rubble in heavily damaged areas. It will look like parts of Detroit when people fled due to crime and job loss.

I like him even more now that I know he was a Trump supporter, I did not know that. As far as hating black people, puhleese, like you know the guy and what's in his heart, and I guarantee you everyone who worked there cares they lost their job. You basically just said if a business owner doesn't support the same person for President you do, it's OK to torch his business and run him out of town. How tolerant.

The insurance company I work for has set up multiple CAT teams for the riots, I think most, if not all, are going to be covered. I hope so anyway.

He came out yesterday, being all angry bashing people of Minneapolis. Sorry most of Minnesota doesn't care.

He has every right to be angry, I'm angry for him and it didn't affect me at all. I don't blame him for lashing out but tell me this....did he go riot and burn anything down?

You made up a bogus claim about him being racist, because he wasn't gracious about the way his elected leaders abandoned him in his time of need and condoned the riots. Again, how tolerant of you.

Dude, you need to take a step back. I haven’t posted much, if anything in this thread. You are upset, and I get it. But come on... all you’ve done is take shots at posters on this board who don’t think the same way you do. Same thing for this business owner who doesn’t think like you do.

Ever hear the saying, “There’s more than one way to skin a cat”? You don’t have the only right answers here, no matter how much you huff and puff. Just relax and realize what we are seeing right now in Minneapolis is uncharted territory that may solve this nation’s problems, or it could backfire horribly and cripple Minneapolis even more. Neither you nor I know what will ultimately happen. I’m hoping for the best.

I live here in the twin cities as well, and my twin daughters are going to the U this fall. One of them will be on the football field for all the home games as a member of the color guard. I wish I could say I feel completely safe with sending them there. I wish I could. But there’s a lot of unknown to still be sorted out.

The Minneapolis police department isn't being disbanded right now. It's a blatant false equivalence. The fact 424 Minneapolis police officers can threaten the silent majority which is 24 police officers who didn't vote for bob Kroll speak volumes. They need to be taken out & replaced by other officers who aren't going to make threat. It's also a fact in Minnesota especially Minneapolis that police officers brutalize or kill more black males than white. The startribune reported this. Don't let fox fear mongering of black people get in the way

So obviously the business owners who didn't vote for Hillary should have their business's burnt to the ground and run out of town....and city officials are on record they want a police free society. Their words

Did I say that? Yiu should look at this person history. He isn't liked in Minnesota & most if not all of Minnesota residents said Good riddance. Minnesota people don't like people attacking their state or cities especially ones trying to justify trying to move a business by bringing up protest

Yes. You did say that. You were very clear, since he supported Trump it was OK to burn his business to the ground.

You mean like Las Vegas where I didn't see a cop my entire last visit and less crime then I typically see at a husker home game? The casinos take care of problems. I'm not saying it will be done in Minneapolis but it's not unheard of.
You've got to be blind to not see all the bicycle cops dotted all over the strip.

No I didn't. I said no one cares that he's living the state. He can take his angry act to somewhere since he hates Minneapolis or Minnesota so much. He isn't a Minnesotan anyway

If minnesota people dont like people to attack their state and cities, why did they attack their state and cities?

There are likely 50 families that give a crap that they're out on their ass.

No problem, I bet, though. Just more mouths for the taxpayers to feed. Bet they have it coming.

Do you understand he's just one of the first of probably hundreds and hundreds?

Do you place any value, whatsoever, on jobs and employment in your community?

Maybe you, just like the rest of us, should open up your mind a tad based on what's going on around you. All of us are part of the problem. Yourself included. And if you don't believe that, you're free to go piss up a rope.

I know it isn’t being disbanded right now, but the city council voted with a super majority to disband, so it appears as though it will happen. Frey can’t veto it. How is that a blatant false equivalence? And nowhere did I say that the MPD doesn’t kill black males... not sure what you are getting at here. It’s undeniable that the MPD needs fixing. No one here is saying otherwise. What people are talking about is the potential overreaction to completely disband the MPD. Maybe it will work. But it’s an extreme step.

Please understand, I’m not in your shoes. I don’t have the same experiences you do. I’m not pretending to know better. I’m just wondering aloud if disbanding the MPD is the best solution. That’s all.

Nine Minneapolis City Council members announced plans Sunday to disband the city’s police department. They did not offer a timeline or propose specific actions but said they are “taking intermediate steps toward ending” the force. The group represents a majority on the 12-person council.

Where are people getting lost?

If they don't Disband, the same thing will keep happening! No police chief can control this department! 424 police officers listen to bob Kroll and do whatever they want. There's no other way to improve this department. Bob Kroll controls all Minneapolis police.

You said they weren’t disbanding and I should stop listening to Fox News. Nice. Now you say disbanding is the only way, which is what I had said in the first place. You’re all over the place. Cool down and speak rationally. All of the mudslinging isn’t winning anyone to your way of thinking.

All I’m saying is there are other ways. Give Kroll his walking papers. Bring in a black chief of police. Fire the officers that don’t listen. You’ve got 24 good officers by your count... let them become leaders in the future.

I agree that changes need to happen. Maybe you’re right and disbanding and building from the ground up is the only thing that will work. But we won’t know until it happens.

There's a black police chief right now. Bob kroll is voted on by the police association of bvb Minneapolis, so he can't be fired or made to step down.

Those 24 police officers, only way they become leaders are if they can somehow or someway escape bob Kroll hold on the department

Apologies, I’m ignorant of the politics and unaware of the challenges to remove Kroll. Sounds like he needs to go, which is easier said than done.
