I don't think he will survive the month of September to be honest. By Nov 1 we will have played Wisc, Ohio st, and Purdue. I think we get blown out by two of those three and lose all three.

If he survives past October 1 one has to think Riley is safe no matter what happens. You can't fire a football coach and not have someone on board to hire the next one.

Past Oct 1o_O won't tell us anything unless we lose to Rutgers and Illinois we still have to play Wisconsin, tOSU,Purdue and NW by that time we will know how bad the ship has sunk.

I believe there is a good chance we lose at Illinois. Two very average teams playing each other with Nebraska being on the road. Every team on our schedule knows we are very beatable and will be psyched to put another nail in the Husker coffin. :(

Fine, but there won't be time to fire Eichorst, get another AD in place, have him do any kind of evaluation, and fire Riley in time to hire a decent coach early in the off-season. If Shawn makes it much into October then Riley is safe.

Steve Pederson was fired on October 15, 2007.

After we get humiliated by Wisconsin and Ohio St he may be very likely be gone by the time we even get to play Purdue with a bye week in between tOSU and Purdue.Oct 15-16.

And Tom Osborne was in the wings to be the interim. That's not happening again so unless you have someone else in mind it will take some time to get an AD in here particularly if he is already established somewhere else.

That's sad that TO can't come back. Is there anyone one else from the 90's we can call to come help us?

Yep...this is going to be a very nice "retirement" that Riley will announce during the season...I am guessing about 8 games into the year. That will possibly save SE his job, maybe.

Sure you can, Pedey did it before with Solich/Cally. ;)

No, I meant someone like that Chancellor can't fire the AD and coach and not have an AD in place to hire the next football coach.

Eichorst knows he is on the hot seat with his hire. Too bad Perlman isn't still working he could go with Eichorst.

You can see that Eichorst is starting to attempt a slight separation from Mike Riley with his tough talk yesterday. I am not fooled. Winking

Too bad we couldn't bitch slapped SE when he was thinking Riley was the man and tell him start over and pick another and use you're head.

Trev Alberts risked his pro career by playing against Florida State in the 1994 Orange Bowl. Risking his future because he loves the Cornhuskers...that sounds like the kind of guy I want as an athletic director.

Central Florida has only played one game, due to a bye an a cancelled game against Georgia Tech. They play Maryland next Saturday. The same Maryland team that beat Texas. I think that will be a nice demonstration of what our future coach can do.

I don't like buddy hires, and I don't think the athletic director/head football coach have to be from the Nebraska "family," but culturally I think we're missing the things that used to make Nebraska great. These guys understand that.

I hope he doesn't survive he needs to be kicked in the nuts because that is what he did by hiring this circus clown staff!
