so the big 12 champ game would be better for the big 12 then a team in the playoff? Why?…for money and to stay relevant during championship week.
We did recruit him.seems like they are going to knock tcu out of the playoffs..
and why did'nt we recruit tcu's council bluffs qb?
Without the championship game, the Big 12 champion could lose one game and get left out of the playoffs for going 11-1, while the 12-1 champions who play a conference championship game will get invited to the playoffs.seems like they are going to knock tcu out of the playoffs..
and why did'nt we recruit tcu's council bluffs qb?
frost wouldn't drive to gretna you think he's making it to counciltucky?seems like they are going to knock tcu out of the playoffs..

Baylor got left out of the playoffs in 2014 due to being 11-1 and not playing in a conference championship game. Ohio State who was 12-1 and played in a conference championship game got into the playoffs and ended up winning the national championship. That's when the Big 12 decided it needed a championship game because it was at a disadvantage over the conferences that have a championship game. The current Big 12 Championship is ridiculous, and totally unnecessary. Every team in the Big 12 plays every other team, so they all play nine conference games. A round-robin competition is actually the best format for determining a champion because everyone plays everyone. So you don't get some weak 6-6 team from an opposite division in a conference championship game. Or you don't get a ridiculous format like the SEC where Georgia and Alabama play each other once every seven years during the regular season.
The biggest downside to the Big 12 Championship game in its current format is that it's a guaranteed rematch, and could be a back-to-back rematch if the teams played each other the last game of the regular season. In the SEC, Big Ten and ACC, the championship game is rarely a rematch.
The B1G plays 9 for more conference games to equal a higher payout which is the conference goal, not necessarily making any kind of playoff. It's about money first, money second, and money third.Let’s not forget that the SEC only plays 8 conference games and aren’t punished for that like other conferences. NCAA need to make it mandatory for all power 5 teams to play either 8 or 9 conference opponents.
Baylor got left out of the playoffs in 2014 due to being 11-1 and not playing in a conference championship game.
True. Bowlsby didn't handle that situation well at all. I think his reasoning for declaring Baylor and TCU co-champions was, he wanted TCU in the playoffs because TCU realistically had a better chance of winning, however it blew up in Bowlsby's face. The blame for that debacle falls on Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby. The playoff committee reached out to Bowlsby to ask who the Big 12 recognized as conference champion, and Bowlsby kept insisting that Baylor and TCU were co-champions. When the committee did their final ranking after the conference championship games had been played, they elevated Ohio State to the #4 spot, and dropped TCU to #5 with Baylor at #6, citing the fact that Ohio State was a conference champion.
What Bowlsby should have done would have been to follow the same guidelines that had been in effect since the time that the Big 12 went to a 10-team, round robin scheduling format. Baylor and TCU both had 8-1 conference records, with Baylor beating TCU head-to-head. Baylor should have been declared the Big 12 Champion, and they would have had a very good shot at getting one of the four slots. Instead, the Big 12 got snubbed, ironically after running all of those Big 12 commercials all season long "One true champion" because everyone plays everyone in the Big 12.
He chose TCU over nebraska. Not hard to understand that one. Dumb question.seems like they are going to knock tcu out of the playoffs..
