Why no thread terrible O-line......

blocking as been atrocious. Little or no holes to run thru. Why do you think TA is rolling out all the time. They can't even line up right which cost us a TD! Nearly every time we have a big play, it's called back by holding etc. Maybe Cavanaugh deserves some criticism too. No rotating, are you fricken kidding me? This OL is the worst I've seen in many years of watching NU football!

what bothered me (after that illegal formation with too many guys in the backfield) I started looking at the way the line was lining up.. It looked like a jigsaw puzzle out there.

And the high snaps from center should have been corrected long ago. They seem to upset the timing on some plays.

And we are second in the Big Ten in ypc. This issue is waaaaayyyyyy overblown.

I agree, Cav says all the right things but not rotating guys is just crazy right now. It s not like we have 5 all Americans out there Keep giving some guys chances to earn a spot. Just completely stupid. Why even try in practice, you don't even get a shot once his pick was made

Or about the personal foul seems like people are scared to touch that. Thought we were done with that kind of stupidity and immature behavior from our coach.

The point is he was fine arguing until his last action of swiping at the ref...hypocrites

That's why I post what I do because of the hypocrites on this board.

Oh so its ok to swing at the ref at point in his face?
What are you talking about? Swing at the ref? HUH?

Even the announcers thought the flag was BS... Who has the gif of Bo swinging at the ref? Show it so Jeans15 knows what a swing at the ref is.

Then do everybody a favor and leave, that was the worst penalty ever and you know it I frankly it didn't care that bo chewed ass on officials either, the big ten and big twelve are not great in any respect

Been around this board for 10 years not going anywhere.

I expected better from Riley all the way around. Its not that I don't like him. I don't like his results and every mentioning of Bo instead of just debating about Riley.

I think everybody hoped for more, bo has some responsibility with this, whether you like it or not I give credit to Bo for one thing, he could win ugly. There are tons of coaching errors but nothing is going to change as far as the head coach goes so you are doing yourself no favors It is what it is

I actually loved seeing some fire coming from MR! I was screaming at the TV "Give 'em hell, Riley!"

I did too and posted as such during the game.
So just reading all your posts in this thread (and your response to Hoosker Du), sure looks like trolling...

Bo won ugly a lot once Suh, Crick, Prince, Hagg, etc were gone.

And you simply don't know football. When our own offensive coordinator doesn't have confidence in our OLine, that should tip you off pretty quickly.
Stop...if you have the second highest ypc rate in a league that is known for rushing then you are running the ball pretty dang well. The problem with our offensive coordinator is that he won't commit to the run and has zero imagination with how to use the run game. As much as you guys love to hate on our line and backs (you know, the ones who pat themselves on the back for being so "positive" here), the numbers show you to be wrong.

Pass blocking is suspect.
We are second in the Big Ten in fewest sacks a game. If we are talking about conference play only we lead the league in fewest sacks per game. Again...you are very, very wrong.

Big Ten Stats:
2nd in ypc
2nd in fewest sacks

Ummmmmmm...maybe the Oline just isn't as bad as you say.

Lil bit out of frustration.
Now that I can get behind…

I'm not yet ready to throw in the towel on Riley however. This has been incredibly frustrating, but I would like to see what he can do with fewer injuries and better players. I know they have had all kinds of issues with penalties and coaching blunders, but I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet.

Comparing MR's side line behavior to Bo's is idiotic at best!

Do you even watch the games? How many times do we have to get stopped on 3rd and short or 4th and short for you to realize that we can't/don't/won't rely on our running game? When we are 6 games into the season and our longest run is a FB trap where he was stopped at the LOS (and broke away by his own determination), or a QB scramble, we are not consistently running the ball.

You can post as many numbers as you want, but our coaches see it, and every other fan other than you realizes that we haven't been able to run the ball consistently. We've been over this before, Tom, and yet you still don't get it.

I'm not saying that it's all the fault of the OLine, but they are at least as much at fault as the RBs. Neither the OLine nor the RBs have been remotely consistent this year.

I wish Nebraska fans were more knowledgeable. We may be the greatest fans but many simply don't watch the games with any depth.

For example, on third and fourth down and short (three yards or less) guess what percentage of the time our big backs (Cross and Janovich) pick up first downs? Why don't you try 100% of the time. That's right...we are a perfect seven for seven when our OC decides to give it to our big backs in that situation.

On third and fourth down and short (three yards or less) guess what percentage of the time we make first downs when we run a smaller back or a jet sweep guy? Why don't you try 0% of the time. That's right...we are a perfect zero for seven when our OC decides to give it to someone besides a big back.

You want to know who is at fault in that situation? The offensive coordinator because he should know this and call plays accordingly...and stop acting like he is smarter than everyone else. Go ahead...complain about me using stats again. The numbers don't lie!

Edit: P.S. We are 4 for 7 when passing the ball on third or fourth down and three or less to go.

I am going to compile the numbers on the percentage of our designed runs from the RB and QB position that go for 3 yards or less. You aren't going to like what you see, but it will support why most people that watch our team don't have confidence in our running game. Give me some time, so we can finally put this exchange to bed.

Do you think our coaches would be lining our FB up at the RB position if they had confidence in our running game? Of course they wouldn't. And for that matter, how often when we need just a few yards for a first down, have you felt confident that our running game would get it?

You specifically said we can't make third or fourth and shorts. If we run our big backs we make it every single time. Don't go changing the goal posts now. If we make it EVERY SINGLE TIME, maybe those are the plays we should run on third and fourth and short.

I'm not changing anything, you blithering fool. The premise of this exchange from the very beginning of the year was that you think our running game is better than people on this board think, and I think we are very inconsistent, and have been from the start of the season. The fact that our coaches put a FB at the RB position instead of playing our current RBs tells us a lot of what they think about our running game.

You're the one changing things by throwing in this BS of "Big backs vs small backs." The point still remains that we are 50% (I'll be checking those numbers too) on gaining roughly a yard or so on 3rd and 4th down.

Actually we are 4 for seven when passing the ball on third or fourth down and three or less. That puts our total to 11 of 21 which is 52%. Just think what that number would be if we just gave it to Cross and Jano in those third and short situations...those guys who have yet to be stopped this year.
