Our 4 man rush obviously was not putting pressure on the Wisc QB--that gave him time to throw his strikes

yet i dont recall any blitzes

Been the same thing all season. Our front four can`t seem to get consistent pressure on the QB especially on third down.
If we don`t blitz, expect more of the same.

This is why I question the banker hire. I don't know what the hell he is seeing that makes him think rushing 4 will win us games. It certainly doesn't create any turnovers which we need because of our offense sputtering.

I thought there was good pressure on Stave at times. A couple times he got rid of the ball, barely, and was crushed. The defense has stepped up a little bit.

About blitzing, we want to send extra men to rush the passer (and we did sometimes). We also want safety help over the top. We also want to maintain the discipline that is keeping teams from running well.

It is hard to have it all.

i think WIsc was starting 2 to 3 freshman on their offensive line, which makes our inability to rush the passer even more puzzling.

unless you have lock down corners (like we have had in the past)---one needs to pressure the passer.--even Brady or Manning dont do well with pressure

Stave was getting rid of the ball too quickly MOST of the time for a blitzer to get there. IF you blitz it puts WAY more pressure on your linebackers and we are EXTREMELY banged up there. BOTH Newby and Weber played hurt. I don't know what you expect when we played as many backups, walkons and underclassmen Saturday. OVER HALF our starters were OUT for this game or played hurt. Generally IF you lose ONE key starter you can be in trouble.

We blitz often, and fairly predictably. 3rd and long = blitz = open slant = 1st down. Miami ate us up with it. Wisky was getting some mileage out of it in the first half, although it seemed that we pulled back on the blitzes in the second half.

Our blitz is pathetic. I'd rather rush 4. They get decent pressure at times.
