This is not an advertisement for the athletic department. Nor does this post have any nuggets about this past FNL (Tilford). Rather, I've thought about becoming a season ticket holder since Nate Gerry signed, but I put it off for one reason or another. At a graduation party this summer, I was given a reason that I couldn't dismiss. While discussing Matt and Will, I asked Christine (mom) if she was going to the Husker opener or to Will's game (which happens to be the main fundraiser for the public schools boosters). She said they were going to Lincoln, because Matt is probably going to play. I took that as Mom-speak for Matt will be dressed and playing - a lot.

After Matt arrived in Lincoln for the summer and as he's worked out with the team, I've come to believe she is right. Matt and John Raridon have been on the other freshmen for not working out hard enough in the weight room. Word is Matt has been on the upperclassmen as well. Winning a national championship is one of his stated goals. He can't wait to put on the pads and start getting after it. Also, he says he's already learned a lot from Cav and the strength coach! Of course, I'd love him to redshirt and get even stronger and smarter in the system, but it looks like he'll play, barring injury.

With that knowledge I convinced one of my brothers to join me. We'll sitting in the North end zone this fall.
