I think there only one troll thread going on blaming Trev. Seems like pretty much all of husker nation is ready to turn the page.Had to be Trev Alberts.
Read that a few times up here.
It wasn't things like inattention to detail, lack of quality assistants, giving away 10 points every game with shit special teams play, baffling clock management, and no fear of failure.
Nope. It was Trev.
It's discipline across the board. If the HC doesn't have it....No way in hell his players will.He failed because he couldn't instill mental discipline in the team. That's evident by all the close games and then always failing to finish with wins. It's just not accidental or luck when it happens that many times. Now the question really is WHY was he unable to get the players in the right mindset? I don't know the answer. You'd really have to have been inside the team I think to understand that. Maybe some smart analytical member of the team will tell us one of these days.
I do think Scott himself doesn't have a clue as to what went wrong.
Because he is Larry Frosts kid !My guess is, he thought that success at Nebraska would come as easily as it did at UCF. Perhaps he thought he wouldn't have to put in much work to achieve success.
It seemed to me Scott had a strong desire to prove he was right even after it failed. Case in point, those backyard pass plays to start the game. They were a disaster, but he kept ordering them up. I think he got a little of that attitude from his mentor Chip Kelley. The difference is I think even Chip has mellowed a little bit. Scott was defiant to the end.
1. Trenches 2. Special teams focus. 3. Qb decisions on who to bring in. 4. Intangibles all attention to detail and odd personal brand and the overall impact of those traitsMy guess is, he thought that success at Nebraska would come as easily as it did at UCF. Perhaps he thought he wouldn't have to put in much work to achieve success.
Parity has hurt Neb more than any other school. The worst recruiting is within our 500 mile radius and that’s not changing. No coach will win compared to the past. I use to think a BIG10 championship every 10 years or so was realistic and that’s not anymore. My guess is, he thought that success at Nebraska would come as easily as it did at UCF. Perhaps he thought he wouldn't have to put in much work to achieve success.
This makes 3 out of 4 head coaches at NU who have failed horribly in part due to bringing their buddy in as their DC. That’s one thing Saban would never do.It's discipline across the board. If the HC doesn't have it....No way in hell his players will.
I agree to an extent. It runs deeper than that though. Honestly I think we will need a disciplinarian who runs on the premise that defense win championships. Even in the day and age where it's impossible to stop anyone completely. Unless its Iowa! This makes 3 out of 4 head coaches at NU who have failed horribly in part due to bringing their buddy in as their DC. That’s one thing Saban would never do.
A couple things I will add... I think being a great CFB coach requires certain organizational skills that SF lacks. I don't think Scott is a dummy, far from it.He failed because he lacked attention to detail and had huge blinders with his ability to diagnosis and fix issues in the program. Sloppy is the one word I’d use if I had to.
With UCF, he inherited a situation with NFL caliber talent (or close to it) in key positions and the mirrors aligned on his season. He also had 0 zero pressure to deliver.
i've thought about too muchMartinez was no Milton hell martinez was not even a jamal lord. Just think about that for a moment
A great example is a player being any where close to a blocked put vs ND. If I was the coach there, He would of been kicked off team or never seen the field again. That was a great example of very poor coaching. We told 6th grade young boys to not do what he did! Very elementary stuff!!My guess is, he thought that success at Nebraska would come as easily as it did at UCF. Perhaps he thought he wouldn't have to put in much work to achieve success.
Kindest and most accurate interpretationEgo, arrogance, lack of work ethic, Div II staff when he came in. Oh, and he's a total a$$hole of a person.
