Who currently has the best defense in college?

Next year? I say Clemson. They very easily could have 4 first rounders starting on their d line. But them and Bama then everybody else.

Yea it’s hard not to give it to Alabama. That defense is what is Huskers are dreaming for and wanting. Heck I’d happy with 3/4 of that defense.

You know, by the end of the 2017 season, if you had asked any coach., Analyst, or SEC media guy which team had the best defense in the SEC, they would've all answered with Auburn.

Scott Frost's offense then systematically eviscerated Auburn in the Peach Bowl.

1 Clemson
2 Alabama
3 Ohio St

100 Nebraska ( Coach Frost - make this nightmare go away)

Power houses like Kent State, Rice and North Texas ranked ahead of N last year.

It's Alabama, and by a mile.

Michigan had a great defense 2 years ago. They lost a lot of players and were still a very good defense last year. I think they'll still have one of the top defenses like they have for 2 years. I could include Wisconsin as well but I think their defense is going to take a step back this year.

I know... saw a mock draft having 4 Clemson DLineman going in the first 20 picks—- insane

Add to that NU ranked 119th in rushing yards per game......Beaver ball!!

Bama, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia, Wisconsin

Other defenses that are consistently good..Boston College, Michigan State, San Diego State (known for their Double Eagle/Bear front), LSU

Will Bama take a small step backwards this year after losing their DC? Doubt it will be much because doesnt Saban basically run the D?

Ha- step back, people were saying the same thing when they lost Kirby Smart.,. with Bama nothing is going to change unless they lose Saban or get hit with sanctions, period

Whatever! Auburn had ZERO motivation to play in that game! If they actually practiced and tried to win that game, they would have won by 40!!!a Just ask any of the ESPN radio guys!!!!!!

4 NFL draft picks from that undefeated team doesn't mean sh!t. Too bad Milton's passes were so far off to start that game out. UCF would have ran the score up on one of the amazing SEC defenses.

SEC defenses are awesome. That's why their offenses look so crappy every year and SEC teams don't produce NFL QBs every year...

Not possible with their EASY schedule this year. Guys on the radio say it's the easiest schedule Bama has had in many years.

The eye test of beating the snot out of weaklings will put them in the playoffs whether or not their schedule says otherwise (like Washington's schedule recently).

Bama could play all FCS teams and everyone would claim the eye test and put them in the playoffs. That's how good they are. Sick

Great every one seems to choose a top 3 or 4 teams. I think that sometimes you have to also say that they have a very good offense so the defense isn't on the field as long too. No stated anything about Georgia. They destroyed Alabama earlier in the season didn't they?

The question is it a reading defense or an attacking defense that is the best?
