Ok all. I posted something similar to this before the season start. Many were thinking 10-2/ 9-3. After 3 games I curious to see what people are thinking. Here are my thoughts and prediction

Final

Sat, Sep 19 @ Miami (FL) L 33 - 36 Final

Sat, Sep 26 vs Southern Miss 11:00 AM
This should obviously be a win for us. My hope is this will be "practice" game. Get guys healthy, get another week of guys use to the schemes. Get things into sync before conference play. This should be a 3 TD win by Nebraska (Neb 42- 17 RECORD 2-2)

Sat, Oct 3 @ Illinois TBD
Illinois looks good the first 2 games and I though man, they could give us game. Then reality hit and the got killed by NC. While I think this will be half way close I still see Neb winning by 10 plus. (Neb 28-17 RECORD 3-2)

Sat, Oct 10 vs Wisconsin
I don't know for sure on this one or really the rest of the season this point and after. Hard to know. I like to think we have the better coach here and being that it is a home game. That is the only reason I give a the W at this point but I keep flip flopping on this one as the weeks go by it will be close either way (Neb 27-24 RECORD 4-2)

Sat, Oct 17 @ Minnesota
While MN doesn't look as tough this year I still think they will be the better team and in MN will help them pull out the win for a 3 straight year. I think they also have a better coaching staff. (Neb 21-34 RECORD 4-3)

Sat, Oct 24 vs Northwestern
Another that I keep flipping on as the weeks go by. They are looking good this year. They always give us a game it seems like. Tough one but think they squeeze by us this year. (Neb 24-27 RECORD 4-4)

Sat, Oct 31 @ Purdue
I hope this is another "practice" game but can't really say that anymore. I don't see this going any other way than a Neb win. Now days no game is a easy win. (Neb 37-24 RECORD 5-4)

Sat, Nov 7 vs Michigan State
I know Riley has a small history of knocking off big ranking schools over the years and it is a home night game for us. This could be a huge win year 1 for mike Riley. Sorry but it just wont happen this year. They are better coached and have much better talent. Unless Mich St has a melt down from here on out we don't get within 2 touchdowns. (Neb 17- 34 RECORD 5-5)

Sat, Nov 14 @ Rutgers
This could be close game. Rutgers I think are improving and the home game is always a factor for team with equal talent, which I think they do. I still think we can get the win but not by much (NEB 27-21 RECORD 6-5)

Fri, Nov 27 vs Iowa
Its Iowa, you really don't know what team will show up. We could destroy them they could pull out a win. Never really know. I want to say we can pull the win but really could see a loss here too. (Neb 35-28 RECORD 7-5)

Until we start into conference play it will be hard to know what we are working with from other teams. I honestly can see the Iowa, Rutgers, Northwestern, Wisc and Minn games going either way. If we can pull out wins over all of them(we wont) we could possible go 9-3. If we lose them all (again we won't) we could go 4-8. I still hold to where I though we would at beginning of year, that 7-5 / 6-6 range

I was thinking 9-6 wins at the beginning of the year and 3 games in I'm thinking 9-6 wins... I like Riley we just have way tougher schedule than last year, in a transition year, lost our elite talent to the NFL, need more team talent (recruiting). Riley needs 4 years to rebuild, we don't have the talent of a SEC team right now so it will take good coaching and talent which will take time to get. If Riley can't recruit to Neb then I don't know who could.

Southern Miss, Illinois, and Purdue, should be wins. I don't see how we beat Wisconsin, Michigan state, or Minnesota. Iowa I am leaning toward a loss and Rutgers leaning toward a win. 6-6 or 5-7 is my best guess.

There are no such things as "practice games" anymore. Everyone is good, not great but good. Every year we lose talent, that is part of it. Make excuses all you want whether it is players or schemes. Too much is placed on all that and not enough on getting better as an individual and as a team. That is the coaches job, not ours.

I said 9-3 or 8-4 at the beginning of the season and I stick by that prediction. We lost on a last second hail mary to a team that just went into LA and took #10 UCLA to the brink and lost by 1. We lost to Miami in overtime. Minnesota only beat Kent State by 3 at home. Iowa needed a last second 57 yd field goal to beat Pitt, at home. Northwestern didn't exactly destroy Duke. OSU only beat N. Illinois by 7. I saw that K-State went into 3 overtimes at home with Louisana Tech. There is a lot of parity in College Football these days. Minnesota, Northwestern and Iowa are as beatable as we are. So there's no reason to think those are automatic losses. I do think we'll struggle with Wisconsin and Michigan State. But if those are the only other games we lose, than we'll end up at 8-4. So I'm sticking with that prediction.

Minnesota looks more winnable and Northwestern looks like a tougher game than Wisconsin.
Iowa looks like they have a better offense but has not seen a good offensive team yet.

Let me answer when the MRI results come back on our linebackers.

IMHO only Purdue and Illinois are incapable of winning the BIG10 West.
