TE - 4 on scholarship, losing 0, committed 1, 2019 - 5
OT - 5 on scholarship, losing 0, committed 2, 2019 - 7
OG/C 7 on scholarship, losing 3, committed 2, 2019 - 6

DE - 9 on scholarship, losing 1, committed 2, 2019 - 10

Based on those numbers, and what I see as the number of players needed per position, here is what we need to finish out the class.

CB - 1

ILB - 1
Pass rusher - 1
NT - 1
Understand that this does not include any "non announced" departures from the current roster. When/ If there are more of those, these numbers will change.

Love your analysis as always, @Tuco Salamanca.

As to your "needs," you're going to have to give one up for Ty Robinson at DE. We got Graham as a pass-rush specialist, so perhaps that is a wash or are you saying we need 1 more?

I'd love for us to get more OL commits, and 1 more Safety or CB, but I have no idea where they would be coming from.

Also, is it just me, or are your numbers showing that our roster is balancing out nicely, FINALLY?

Well done. Does this include Wyatt?

Commitment lists 23 and hasnt added Daniels to the list unless i missed it

Daniels is not a recruit. I don't tend to count D1 or Grad transfers as part of the class, simply because, they usually take a scholarship from a player that we don't know is leaving.

fixed the math on 23, I started before Robinson committed, and didn't go back to check my math. good catch.

Do we know of anyone that will more than likely be leaving?

@Tuco Salamanca , what about my question above? Looks like we're getting the commit from Ty Robinson; how does that affect your "needs" list?

It doesn't really, when Robinson commits, I will adjust after.

We are over at a couple of positions, so hopefully the attrition comes from those positions, maybe Vaha.

edit - continuation on Ty Robinson thoughts - Dawson also likes to have his players, especially the young ones, learn and be able to play all three spots up front.

It’ll be an interesting finish for sure.
The good news is they’ve put together a good looking class so far. And there’s room to fill some of those holes.

I wouldn’t mind a JUCO ILB if we could land the right one as we transition more youngsters.
OL is still a concern.
I want Ty (big twin) Robinson baaaad!
I dont mind a young NT (Pola family package fills NT/DB)
I worry less at skill spots as it’s easier to plug in the younger players, but projecting out a couple years, help is still needed in the trenches where it takes longer to develop. That would be my focus.

Holy crap - nice write up Tuco! Btw, if it wasn’t your name that started this thread I wouldn’t have opened it.

For the love of football, send us 2 damn good pass rushers!!!

Isn't WR in need for a couple more?

You seem to be missing two, or two have quit that I missed? Grouping positions to make it easier. I show 60 returnees to your 58

You say only 3 returning RB (I'll include Jones here)- I see 4 with Washington, Mazour, Bradley and Jones

We also seem to differ at DB, you list 11, I see 12 with Clark, Taylor, Bootle, Jackson, Lee, Anderson, Smith, Williams, Domann, Butler, Dismuke

Actually, I think I found it...Mazour and Weinmaster were awarded and technically were one year, but I assume they will both carry forward.

When was the last time you saw a good safety who moved to CB? Different skill sets, they are not necessarily interchangeable.

We have moved good safety's to corner. It has been very bad. Corner, imo, should be your most athletic.

Having played the position a long time ago I personally think it is the hardest position to play on a football field. It’s just really hard to stick with a receiver, anticipate his route, and actually play the ball. For all the times i’ve Screamed at the screen for Lamar Jackson to turn his head and play the ball, I have to admit it’s far easier said than done. So the fact that he actually was turning his head and playing the ball toward the end of the season is huge IMO.

He would be a great safety, but he doesn't have that hate you need. Hes got everything else.

Dude didn't quit or transfer, despite being demoted. I love him as a Husker.

They will be removed from scholarship so the class can get two additional members, if there is enough attrition, to get the class below 85 come fall, they may well be awarded another 1 year scholarship.

I have Domann as a LB

In the 3-4 Personally I consider them DT not DE and If Dawson likes to play all 3 in that personal they are more of a DT than a DE in a 4-3..

The DE in a 3-4 are clearly more like a 4-3 DT, but that doesn't make them DTs. Either way it is just semantics.

My point was that there aren't a lot of DEs, on this roster that could be converted to OLBs. Which is what I was responding to.
