What was this about? Donovan and Fickell

Fickell did his presser this afternoon and said he knows nothing about it or if Raiola said something to him. He speculated that perhaps something was said between Raiola and Casey Rabach who is Assistant OL Coach for Wisky.
Deny the blatantly obvious from the tape, accuse the other side of what you did, that you knew nothing of.

Seems to be acceptable these days.

Looked like a thumbs up to me-but he was also smiling so he may have said something not so nice!
The horror! Something not so nice…in a rivalry game…on a football field. If I had a pearl necklace, best believe I’d be clutching it at the very thought.

Short of a threat of physical bodily harm, there was no reason for what looks like a Wisconsin rent-a-cop to grab a Nebraska coach like that. None.

But this is where I disagree with Donovan Raiola. If you fess up and say “Yeah, I called Fickell a (fill in the blank)”, you win the hearts of 90% of Husker fans who want to see a little swagger return to our downtrodden program. And if you say nothing, then the internet goes wild with unfounded rumors of what could have happened. Better to be upfront on this one.

Hard to say exactly what happened, but Fickell was clearly running his yap from 00:00 -00:03 followed by Donovan smiling about whatever he said, laughing about it, and giving a thumbs up.

Don't know what happened before that, or how much Donovan was jawing, but if Fickell appealed to a COP over some back and forth jawing, it completely explains the trajectory of their program.

Charmin soft.

Wisconsin.

TOS Callahan and Washut seem to be trying to deflect on it a lot “move on to Iowa” “doesn’t look like a big deal”. Seems odd

Means they know what was said and it probably doesn't paint us or Raiola in a good light.

If it was something that Wiscy coach Fickell did they most certainly would've brought the goods.

All that said idc either. Fux Wiscy now let's go and try and put foot to Iowas ass!!

sounds like the security detail for Fickell thought Donovan was a fan in a spot he shouldn't be. Had Donovan gone over to their sideline to talk to someone he knew on the Wisconsin sideline before the cop lost his mind? You would think he was threatening Fickell with a machete the way Barney Fife reacted.

If you watch Rhule’s presser when he was downplaying he seemed to have a little smirk. No may have imagined it but I guarantee the coaches got a good laugh out of it🤣

Edit: and that’s how you post three straight🥴

What could he have said that would have caused the cop to leave his security detail and grab Donnie’s arm like he was a 5 year old. Then just walk away after. If a cop is going to put their hands on you it better be for something worthy.
How do you know it wasn’t worthy?
I guess I’m from a different generation where LE gets the benefit of the doubt.

Because if it was worthy of putting his hands on him there would have been more to it. You don’t grab a grown man like a child and walk away shortly thereafter with no ticket, no arrest, no other issue. IMO

Without knowing the story how do you know he overreacted? Because he’s a cop?
We know he overreacted because he could have accomplished the same thing without grabbing his arm. Raiola wasn't exactly Jacory Barney sprinting away at full speed. What possible reason would anyone, let alone that cop, have to grab his arm like that given what we saw? Threatened harm? If so, why did the cop let it go? What else?

They were in fact a Wisconsin security detail so they had zero authority to do anything. After the way that clown grabbed him Donnie would have been justified to break him in two like a crispy bread stick.

You two above are making such a huge deal out of a little thing. So he grabbed his arm. Big deal! Didn’t seem to bother Donavan. Why does it bother you so much?

We must be watching different clips. Yeah, the cop grabs his arm, but the whole thing looked cordial by the end, to me. Not seeing broken-nose-worthy…anything. Context and words would be helpful.
Cordial because Raiola isn't an idiot like the cop. Again, the same thing could have been accomplished without grabbing his arm. The aggression was stupid and completely unnecessary.

As others have mentioned, grabbing a big man’s arm from behind and spinning him around can be a dangerous move. As men, we know doing that can get you punched. But we are just mortal men.

Police have a different mentality. They are the authority, and they demand and expect it. If the stranger punches, the police can react 100X with impunity. And doing so doesn’t bother them. So, they think nothing of grabbing a man’s arm and spinning him around.

You have to have a sense of time and place. I think the rent a cop pretty quickly realized his error. He’s a doofus just like his coach.

A lot of things happen in this world that don't bother me but bother other people. With that logic no one should be bothered by anything. Am I not allowed to call out a guy who was being an asshole?

I’m saying you don’t have enough information to declare that he was being an ahole. You have no idea what the cop was reacting to.

Perhaps you should buy a string.
Nah, I’ll leave that to people offended by coaches exchanging heated words on a football field, thanks. If you need some, though, I’m sure the Black Friday sales this week will have something that fits the bill.
