I was banned for a time because I told bonvid once a steer always a queer and it had nothing to do politically.

I can't imagine I am the only one but the way I talk in real life with my friends when we are out golfing or watching a Husker game is so different.

Like, we make fun of each other and we bust balls and we make jokes that are off-color but somehow no one gets upset or worked up or leaves or anything like that. We just still have fun.

I've been here 22 years (the first year as Husker.Wed) and have not ever been banned. The main reason is I avoid anything more than passing comments on controversial threads and I try not to respond to people differently than I would to them in person. That includes a few times when I unloaded on people for calling me a "fool" or "moron" for no reason except they had no intelligent responses to my posts they didn't like.

It is my opinion that a big problem society needs to figure out is people living exclusively in their online echo chambers that foments extreme intolerance to other peoples' POVs. Back when people sat around the potbellied stove in the general store, people you disagreed with had a name and face you might disagree with, but probably found a few things to like about them.

My other account got nuked (rightfully so). But it's sole purpose was to troll the Recruiting Analyst bums...fun while it lasted. That being said, I believe that some of these are "cumulative" bans based too much on the poster's history as opposed to the immediate infraction. I get that politics are out, but name calling and disparaging one's family is ok. Seems weird. Nevertheless, I enjoy 99% of everyone's input to this board even when I don't agree.

I know none of us have a "right" to post on here, that wasn't my point. My point was a Moderator could either delete a post or if a guy(s) are getting over the line, issue a warning and if the poster(s) doesn't back off, then sit them down. That seems completely fair to me. A couple times I did get a message that I was pushing the envelope on something and I've always said that it would be fine for him, or ME, to just go in and delete the comment(s). Why the need to bench guys when it can be handled much more fairly.

You post something that may/may not cross the line, and then you post something again and you come back and find you got benched for some horseshit reason. I've seen MANY times when guys should have either been warned on religious/political content and nothing happens to them. Especially left wingers, not getting banned, but I think its totally arbitrary and capricious, and I think the Mod is exposed when that happens.

They consistently let left wing bullshit be posted on here, and I don't recall any of them taking a temporary hike. Plus, the sonofagun doesn't even have the courtesy of saying you're benched for 3 days, or a week or a month or whatever.

Yeah, there is a rat on here, and I know who it is.
Agree with many points you bring up. My question is doing mods really read everything or only when someone's been reported. If the latter, that could explain things. Snowflakes etc.

I was given a week vacation for using a common slang word. No warning or explanation until I inquired why my account wasn't functioning.

Wish I knew who the complainer is

In my opinion, the decent thing for the moderator to do in your example is to either just delete that post in which you had the "offensive" slang word, or drop you a personal DM and say, "The use of that word is not acceptable in this forum, please delete it by end of day or you will face a week ban."
Something like that at least gives a poster a chance to make up for his perceived poor choice of word(s).

The "Edit" button can serve many purposes.

There have been leftists who have been given vacations with repeated violations. The mods to a large degree depend on reports from snitches. They don’t read every post so things can get down the line a long ways before they find out. Again, I understand the criteria seems somewhat arbitrary but the mods are human. I’m sure that they make some decisions influenced by their perception of hostility to themselves and other posters.

I appreciate that somebody is out there putting the brakes on this runaway train even if I don’t always like their decisions. I try to extend grace to them and left wingers. The times I’ve been banned I know why I was banned and I don’t dwell on my perception of how fair it was.
I agree that I wouldn't want the job of a mod and I would be terrible at it, I think.

The dude has called me a "liar" multiple times in the last year, the one time I called him a "****ing liar" I got benched for a month.

Maybe be intelligent enough to not pick fights with mods??? You're just asking for a ban at some point.

Any decent fvcking mod would have just closed the thread. After its posted and on the site is a little bit late for a guy to retract what he said. Once its posted, you can't unring the bell. A guy should at least be given a warning to delete a particular post. If the poster won't delete it, then action should be taken. Its pretty ****ing arbitrary.

These ****ing bans that come out of nowhere are bullshit. Everybody who is in the process of crossing the line should be told they're done on that particular thread, not the whole ****ing site.

You gonna ban me again for an opinion Mr. Mod?
LOL you guys are comical.

Nobody gets special treatment...in fact HBK probably has set the record for the most warnings before being banned. I like the guy, he and I are generally pretty good. Over and over and over and over again I've asked him to stop.

I usually send out plenty of warnings, but when it's your 85th warning, then....well...you earned it.

Everyone gets at least 1 free warning. Everyone. This isn't hard. Don't talk politics. I don't care if it's right or left or whatever (I've banned plenty of both). You start talking politics then whatever happens is on you. The owners of the site don't want it on here.
