Westerkamp Hospitalized

Looked like a bruised kidney (just my guess, i don't know anything) but that isn't anything to mess around with. Usually can heal by itself but needs to be watched.

That shot looked nasty. I commented that this may be the best catch I have seen Westercamp make. He caught it and secured the catch and then instantly looked like he was about to die. That takes a ton of guts to hold on to the ball when you know you are in agony. I thought the same thing as AD. Looked like a nasty kidney shot. Minimum, he will have a pretty horrific bruise in his lower back. My guess is he will be pissing crimson for a while.

Yea he might be cussing every time he takes a leak for awhile.

Jordan Westerkamp has been released from the hospital, according to Nebraska. No other information available on his condition.

The report on the radio was that he had some tingling in at least one of his legs. The hit he took to the area he took it could very easily cause a bruise to the nerves supplying his leg. The symptoms could be very similar to a shoulder stinger. I would guess that he got a huuuuge dose of some IV steroids after xrays and maybe a CT scan to rule out any fractures or deeper problems. If he's out of the hospital I seriously doubt he has any kidney involvement.

Good thing we had a good group of receivers, because it has really been hard to keep them all available.

Nerve things are always wait and see - if released it is not an internal injury (good) but if his leg is impacted there is no way to know how long he might be out - season ending is possible - hoping it is not

IL has been pretty chippy the last 2 years - lots of pushing after the whistle - not saying that was intentionally dirty, but IL was getting all they could on some of those hits.

That particular hit on Westy wasn't an intentional cheap shot. Just bad luck.

Some people will try to convince you that Nebraska beat Purdue last year. And that it was actually a quality loss

Yea true, and some other people will try to convince you that losing to Purdue was a career ender. And that the coaching staff should never be forgiven.
