I feel a whole giant BUNCH better about the direction of the program than I did just 10 months ago. I see kids getting coached in a manner that is going to help them get better. I see vastly improved relations with fans and media. I see a MUCH better and MUCH more focused recruiting strategy. I see MUCH better QB coaching. I see better game adjustments on defense. We lack enough talent and depth at key positions, but I love this team and staff and I feel much better about Husker football's future. We're in good hands with Mike Riley and as a radio ad for a truck/trailer company said, this staff fits the Nebraska way of doing things. GBR.

If Nebraska had played teams like Florida Atlantic, South Alabama, or Pitt, or Iowa State, or Kent State or Colorado State or a directional FCS school, the Huskers would be 3-0 right now. It would be fool's gold, and a lot of Nebraska's weaknesses would be masked.

Im glad Nebraska has already played a tough non con. It allows you to learn from your mistakes and prepares you for weaker competition down the road.

Nebraska was a few plays from having one loss last year. You can play the game the other way too. What happens if Hill doesn't get hurt in the 2nd quarter when he was torching us. What happens if Golden doesn't put the back up qb in to kill a td drive. What happens if Miami doesn't commit a couple needless penalties on a couple tds. The point is Nebraska didnt deserve to win either game just like they didn't deserve to win last year. This team needs to clean up their mistakes. I have seen no evidence to see we are any more disciplined. Penalty wise we might be worse.

The same Pitt team that won @Miami the last time they played? or Going on the road to Colorado State (a quality team last year), which most schools in the B1G probably wouldn't do.

Look I get the frustrations of starting 1-2 and saying "we're battle tested" but at the end of the day nobody knows. It's three games into the season and some teams will go on to have nice years and others not so much. However, to sit there and downgrade other teams schedules at this point is just an attempt by you to either 1. make yourself feel better or 2. take a low blow at other schools in the conference.

Its all in how you choose to look at it and I prefer Dinglefritz and Cornicators approach. If you're gonna be a fan then support the team emotionally, physically and spiritually.

Nothing against Iowa because they have played well up to this point but Iowa or Minnesota would not be 3-0 with our schedule.

Coach Gruden said, "You are what your record says you are." I believe that.

Lol at the dipshit...

Pitt is without Conner, everybody's All American. They are dogshit this season and nearly lost to Bo Pelini's Youngtown State team.

Miami would be a double digit favorite over Pitt right now.

"Nearly lost" but they won. Just like Nebraska "nearly lost" to McNeese State last year or "nearly lost" to Iowa but they won those games.

Miami is probably an 8-4 team, I don't deny that. They aren't the world beaters you think and wouldn't blow all of the B1G west out of the water like you want to believe.

Nebraska is better than Iowa.
Nebraska has more talent than Iowa.
Nebraska has played a much tougher schedule than Iowa.
Iowa does not possess the personnel to exploit any of Nebraska's weaknesses.
If Nebraska plays that Pitt team, under the lights in Lincoln, the Huskers win by 17 to 20.
BYU is better than Iowa.
Miami is better than Iowa.
Nebraska will beat Iowa.
If Nebraska had played Iowa's schedule They would easily be 3-0 and half the morons on this site would be spouting off about Nebraskas greatness.

Get the hell out of this thread Iowa.

I honestly hate the expression – "we are only X number of plays away from having X record". It is such a loser mentality. You either win the game or you don't.

If you start winning and in 6 weeks you can say, Nebraska is 7-2 and a heartbreaking okay from being undefeated then its meaningful and can n used a motivation.

But if you just keep losing close games, week then, you're just a bad football team.

Right on all points, and for any herkie to think otherwise just affirms how delusional they are. Herkie is still slow as molasses as I watched, and that Miami team that Nebraska played would torch them all night if the two got together. I'm still concerned about Northwestern and Wisconsin. But not herkie.

Two plays go differently and Nebraska is 3-0. That wouldn't make Nebraska a better team than they are now.

Lots of issues to work out. They need to fix them, they need to recruit their azzes off, and they need to take a very long look at the assistant coaching staff in the off-season to see if some changes need to be made.

Riley isn't going to be fired. You are literally smoking crack if you think that. Nebraska could never afford it, for many reasons. The 2015 season is going to be what it is.

Seems like a lot of fans wanted closer losses, well, here we are. We should get better as we move through the season, but other teams will get better as well. We don't live in a vacuum. When Callahan took ever, he ripped the band-aid off. Callahan was going to immediately turn our running team into our passing team, without success. Post Callahan, our team has transitioned to passing more (but still limited in the big picture). The transition to Riley's schemes, while not seamless, is not a huge leap. I didn't expect perfect execution, and we haven't seen it. But, I didn't expect so many penalties and the team looking so flat. Riley has 4, 5, 6, or 7 years, whatever number to fully implement his system.

We are 1 - 2.

Excuses are like armpits and I don't believe in moral victories. At the same time, I can't deny dinglefritz' post. It is not the time to hit the panic button.

It is a transition year and no one knew what was going to happen. For me, Riley gets a free pass this year no matter what . I'm looking for changes and trends. The improvements to our passing game have been impressive. Our running game, however, has been pretty unimpressive. Our run defense is much improved, our pass defense has taken a step back. In-game coaching adjustments seem much improved. Recruiting seems much improved. No embarrassing tirades on the sidelines.

I think there are more points in the plus column than the minus column. I'm excited to see what happens in the next few years.

My #1 critique is Langsdorf's reticence to let Tommy run. Without Tommy's running and scrambling ability, that would have been a really awful, ugly game. And it seems like they want a pure pocket passer. One thing that Bo did get right is this: dual threat QBs are a defensive coordinator's worst nightmare.

You listen to 93.7 the ticket too much

Iowa's secondary possesses 2 corners and 1 safety that would start on our team... Along with Gerry. They might still get give up plays, but the schedule comparison and purposeful denigration is embarrassing/funny, and more reflective of our faithful having blinders on, not theirs

Pitt abused Miami in their house last year. Miami also lost a lot of talent to the draft. It wouldn't surprise me me if Pitt kicks their ass this year too. I think you could make an argument Iowa is and or could end up better than Miami. Miami is an average team at best.

Support the team by saying our players suck? Think before you post.

2013 Northwestern approach. "We were just a few plays away from being 10-2 instead of 5-7.

Have we really sunk that low? If this is going to be our mindset, then Nebraska as we know it is finish. That kind of mindset should never be acceptable here.

Thank YOU!! These knuckleheads that think the Miami game was actually close??? Like they made no mistakes. 2 TDs called back, more penalties, the worst coach in football, etc.....but our dilusional fan base thinks we're 2 plays away. Like we're a top 20 team too :) good Lord I've heard it all. Good teams make plays and have depth. We'll never have 4 stars backing our star players up. Get use to it and accept it.

Pitt without James Conner sucks worse than. An Iowa City whore.

Do you really think this Miami team is anything better than average? I see them as an average team with a coach who will be fired at the end of the year.

There are a lot of teams that are average. Infact 5 of the 7 teams in the B1G West are average.

Miami has a pretty good offense they don't on defense. Just like us.

Iowa also didn't play in the heat in Miami yesterday. I would have like our chances with Pitt at home too.

Iowa yesterday would've gotten their asses kicked at Miami. Pitt is effing terrible this season.

And if Nebraska gets beat by Iowa at the end of the year what will your story be then? You can say could have, would have all day. It's just an assumption, therefore it isn't relevant. I saw Nebraska get beat by a team who lost a lot of talent from last year who only won six games in a weak conference with a dead man walking head coach. Keep telling yourself Miami is so much better than Iowa or Pitt if it makes you feel better.

That's like saying, "If my wife from Iowa loses 100 pounds, she will be attractive."

Neither will occur. Iowa is not beating Nebraska in Lincoln this season, and your spouse from Oskaloosa will never be classified as anything other than obese.

Here's my view of the how the coaches view the QB run situation, based on what they've said in the press.
They have two options:

1. Let TA run alot in the designed run game, and run a pretty good risk of him getting hurt, and therefore not being competitive in any games when Fyfe comes in.

2. Keep the designed run to a minimum, and let him make plays with his feet when plays break down. Given our OL, this should happen enough to keep the D honest about his ability to tote the rock. Reduced chance of injury means that most any game we will be competitive instead of trying to cobble together a Fyfe/Bush season.

The bottom line for me personally is this. We have a new OL that isn't very good, although they should get better by the end of the year. And against all odds, they seem better at pass blocking than run blocking. If your OL isn't good, it doesn't really matter what you do, you are doing all you can to move the ball period. If the OL was a staple of excellence, I might be more inclined to take place in the run/pass religious wars, but it seems pretty certain we won't be dominating folks in the run game this year making it largely a moot point.

Do you guys realize no one cares about these 2 teams, right? It's kind of like being the tallest midget at this point. Neither team is cracking the top 25 if that's what you call successful these days.

For one thing what has happened the first 3 weeks in the season has nothing to do with the final game in Lincoln.

Who knows who will be healthy or out for either team... All's I was saying is I don't think Iowa would have beaten both BYU and Miami in the Miami Heat yesterday not saying they wouldn't have maybe one but not both.

Then why are you here?.

Once again your statement is full of crap. You or I don't know the answer. You speak of an opinion as absolute truth which very funny. There are way too many factors before the end of November to even know where Nebraska or Iowa will be in relation to injuries and the such. Like I said, keep telling yourself what you want to hear if it makes you feel better.

We certainly are confused considering we look at all sort of bright sides that we have difficulty seeing as a bright side. I doubt we've sank that low considering here we are bitching and moaning about losing 2 out of three to start the season with a chance to win all three. This is with a new coaching staff and here our expectations are the same.

So, I have been seeing all day on here that Nebraska is 2 plays away from being 3-0. I understand the BYU hail mary...because Nebraska had the lead before that happened.

Now please explain to me what one play would have won the Miami game outright.
