Well we're #7 in this poll, so there's that.

I think this article would have been more accurate in regards to Nebraska several years ago. I think most of our fan base has come down from the 90's high and expectations that are unrealistic for all but maybe Alabama. Not sure if we're a top 10 job, but we sure aren't that far off. To be called an over rated job seems like a bit of click bait as everyone knows NU fans are kind of rabid and that can't hurt when sitting around thinking of something to write about.

Vandy seems like a stupid subject in that article, I've never thought of Vandy football as rated at all, let alone over rated.

West Virginia? Outside of that state, nobody thinks that's a great job so not sure how it would ever get to the point of over rated.

Last week I ranked the best coaching jobs in college football, and this week I wanted to look at another side of it — the most overrated jobs in college football. It should be said that none of these are even remotely bad jobs. These people all get paid millions of dollars to oversee football programs. In fact, these are some of the very best jobs on planet Earth. It’s just they’re maybe not quite as great as some of the other very best jobs in college football.

Guess I don't see what the hub bub is about the article. He says they are not "bad" jobs but each has its own reality that is a challenge to success. Nebraska's has been well documented for years. That doesn't mean it is insurmountable, but it is nonetheless, real.

His overall statement that even with the challenges each school faces these coaches are still getting paid well and they are some of the best jobs on the plant. What's to disagree about that.

Honestly I don't even think ND or PSU are over rated anymore. I think a majority of fan bases not named LSU and Alabama understand parity is here to stay and don't expect to go 12-1 every year anymore. Yeah everyone has their share of crazies, but overall I think it's been so long since many of these schools dominated like they did in the past, that the word "over rated" doesn't mean what it used to, at least not to me.

Truhusker, as far as hub bub, not sure I agree I see that, we're just commenting on a CFB article and when an author inserts schools like WVU and Vandy into the discussion of over rated jobs, most people are going to think to themselves "If you're not rated at all how can you be over rated"? IE-"Stupid" I also think his disclaimer about none of these being remotely bad job has a of a CYA feel to me. I call that a disclaimer, my wife uses them all the time, Pet peeve for me. "I'm sorry, but if you hadn't, blah, blah, blah". Nearly impossible to get an honest apology without a disclaimer from her and we joke about it all the time together, I'm not tossing my wife under a bus here.

To equate "most over rated coaching job"s with the inability to recruit due to so-called "lack" of In-State talent is ludicrous. Nebraska is, and will most likely always be a Top 10 coaching job.

Past administrations have knocked us down a notch (in terms of premier coaching acquisitions) for various reasons, but the current regime has us heading in the right direction.

Give me a reason to believe why Riley and Company will not be here for the long term and instill what was taken from us through poor management of prior administrations?

Here's what doesn't make sense about this. If you look at his rating of the best jobs in college football, he has us among 9 schools on the "honorable mention" list. So we are at least among the "honorable mention" list for the best jobs in college football, yet we are also one of the 7 most overrated jobs? How does that make sense?

Yes it makes sense. Look at the football polls for validation.

Houston is a very good team with a good win over Oklahoma. If you had to bet a significant amount of money, how far down the top 25 do you go before you could say with 75% certainty that UH would win head to head game. Not just could they but there is no doubt UH is better than ______ team.

I think Houston is a very good team probably to 15 for sure, but I don't see them as the 6th or 7th best team in the country. So over rated but still very good.

Agree.

So how good is Oklahoma this year? Well, the worthless preseason rankings had them ranked high, thus everyone assumed they were going to be a really good team this year.

Well, what if they finish with 4+ losses? They already have 2, so 2 more losses isn't too crazy. So then Houston would have beaten an over-rated team and immensely benefited from Oklahoma's over-rated preseason ranking.

Sometimes I think these preseason polls are so stupid. The rest of the time I think they are just dumb.
