Been a little quiet here lately. Strength program isn't overnight but also doesn't take 4 years as there should be some gradual improvements. Any chance we start seeing results this year?

The problem is how you measure "improvement." If the team as a whole can squat 10% more, how does that translate onto the field. Endurance should hopefully improve and you could see that show in the fourth quarter of games when things are fairly even athletically. There are also reduced injuries, especially those of soft tissue.

Well I guess I'm wondering about the lines. How much of the line problem is Cav and how much is S&C. Kind of guessing a little of both and wondering if S&C will be an asset this year

I'd rather have good football players than strong football players. As for the OL, again, I'd rather have talented football players than strong ones. Utter, Hahn, and Conrad were starters last year. Let that sink in for a second. I agree Cav is on the hot seat but let's see what he does this year with healthy a OL.

How did we go from the OP asking about the S & C program to Cav being on the hot seat? How many "good" linemen FB players do you know who are not strong? I understand that strong does not always equal "good." I guess Suh was good and strong, Dave Remington, Fonoti how do you quantify all of this? So were Utter, Han and Conrad strong or not - good or not?

I think the Original Poster brought up Cav and the OLine development and assigning blame in post #4.

aside from the excellent Twisted Sister reference...

Boyd Epley did say something about 18 months being needed to get the performance numbers as a whole back to where he would like them. That was about 18 months ago, so it would be nice to hear from him where we are at.

The OP brought up the OL lol. I wouldn't consider Utter and Hahn good and Cole was not a good RT and hopefully the Center position better suits his talents. Isn't McNitt one of the strongest players on the team? And that's what I mean.

It's Cav. No question!! Looks at his history vs Tenopir. No comparison.

Because the S & C was just like milt's when Cav got here, right? SMH...

It very well could be Cav, but your argument doesn't fit at all. If the S & C was suspect before Cav arrived, he hasn't worked with the machine Tenopir had during his time here. If S & C is getting closer to what it was under Milt, maybe, just maybe, Cav looks better...

We won't know until the games are played, but I think it's premature to automatically blame Cav because it's not like it was under Milt.

They're all worthless and weak

You call this a room?
This is a pigsty!
I want you to straighten up this area now!
You are a disgusting slob!
Stand up straight! Tuck in that shirt!
Adjust that belt buckle, tie those shoes!
Twisted Sister?
What is that?
Wipe that smile off you're face!
Do you understand!?!
What is that?
A Twisted Sister pin!?!
On your uniform!?!
What kind of a man are you?
You're worthless and weak!
You do nothing, You are nothing, You sit in here all day and play that sick, repulsive, electric twanger!
I carried an M-16 and you, You carry that, that, that, guitar!
Who are you!?!
Where do you come from!?!
Are you listening to me!?!

What do you want to do with you're life!?!

Does anyone really have an advantage over the other major college football programs when it comes to strength and conditioning?

Back in the old days (80s), I remember hearing about the winter conditioning test results and you would get to read an article that listed all the top performers. Back then, we had very little precious information coming out in winter, so to read those results was kind of awesome.

Now I'm sure not we even publicize those results anymore, I have no idea who has the fastest 40 on the team, or who can bench the most - not that I am advocating going back to the stone age, but it would be kind of nice to hear about those results from time to time.

I feel like it would be a good idea to publish it just because it may give some players a little extra motivation knowing that all the fans are going to know where each individual stands.

However, I could also definitely see with our fan base where it could also turn ugly with social media and how some of our fans think it is necessary to tweet at players and recruits

I'm 99.9% sure the players know who did what. Posting it publicly serves no motivational purposes, especially when it is shared internally

They have already seen what happens whem someone tries to make all the records fair, no matter of when they played. A certain regimes players lose their collective minds.
