Weekend rotation shake-up

I agree, he has earned a shot. Hoping they give Olson a shot as well.

Not that I disagree, but EO is a 2-pitch guy and that's tough to be a starter unless your FB is 93+ & he's not there yet. There were enough rumblings though that I thought they'd go Olson-Frank-Perry-TBD this weekend so you're not off.

Still say, Jelkin is our best overall arm but he can't get his otf shit straight.

Happy for Frank, hopefully he does well with the opportunity. It's going to be a weird weekend with two doubleheaders and no head coach for the first game.

Why no head coach? He was ejected last year and didn't have to sit out.

From Evan Blands article:

The Huskers flew to Arlington for the TCU series but are bussing back this weekend for financial reasons. The team was supposed to have its home opener this weekend but a scheduling snafu forced them to scramble to find games late in the offseason.

I'm hoping there's more to it than that; as in they couldn't find enough seats available on a plane to fly everyone down - due to such a late notice - but on the surface those 3 words are frightening for baseball. There should be zero expense worries to fly the baseball team to a weekend series in Arltington, Texas. Although I strongly disagree with it, I somewhat get bussing to some B1G opponents due to Title IX (softball v baseball travel accommodations) but this catches my attention. And not in a good way.

When they mentioned it on the radio I had assumed the same thing. This is unacceptable if they legitimately told them it they had to bus down for financial reasons.

Don't worry though, cheerleaders and a small band are at the women's B1G hoops tournament. It's not like WBB didn't lose $3,000,000 compared to baseball losing $1,500,000 in the 2020-2021 calender year.

It costs roughly $21,000 to fly everyone (50 people x $400 plus 1k for bus to/from airport) round-trip plus another $3,000 to $4,000 for a local chartered bus. To bus from Lincoln to Arlington, purely a guess of a cost around $6,500 to $8,000.

So, the financial reasons is based on less than $15,000? I smell something and it's not my ass after a great Mexican dinner.

You'd think they would want to reward a program that can win Big Ten titles and sell out season tickets.

I think the issue is getting 50 tickets on a reasonable flight to Dallas from Omaha on 6 weeks notice. My guess is there was nothing that could get the entire team there so the cost analysis is really a private plane vs. bus which I’m guessing would run upwards of $80-100k for that size of group.

The cost analysis isn't a charter flight, they can't take one due to Title IX. 2020, players were spread out on multiple flights to & from one of their trips so that puts water on all on one flight excuse.

6 weeks out is plenty of time to book 50 people, at a very reasonable (less than mentioned above) price, from Omaha to DFW.

I’m not going to pretend to be well informed on Title IX factors but the fact they flew last weekend tells me there must be more factors than purely saving the $15k you referenced. Maybe they are truly just trying to save dollars but I find it hard to believe it’s as simple as they weren’t cheap last weekend and they are this weekend.

For this discussion, Title IX factors involve charter, not commercial. And baseball doesn't take charter flights due to Title IX. Evan Bland stated it was for financial reasons, and a couple of us are saying that's ridiculous.
