Wednesday notebook: Armstrong, Fyfe available to play vs. Iowa

***Head coach Mike Riley said both Tommy Armstrong and Ryker Fyfe will be available to play on Friday and that he expects Armstrong will start. They’ve given both QBs and Zack Darlington all reps this week and feel prepared no matter what ends up happening.

***Riley said he’ll reserve judgment on whether Armstrong will officially be the starter for another couple of days, and noted that Armstrong still hasn’t gone full speed yet in practice. Riley said Armstrong has looked good and comfortable in the work he has done.

***Riley said how much and how effective Armstrong would be able to play vs. Iowa would be to him and how he feels during the game. If there were any chance of Armstrong suffering a significant setback by playing in the game, Riley said "we would not be talking about this." The progress Armstrong has made since Monday has the team feeling good that he's ready to go.

***Riley said Fyfe would wear a soft cast on his left wrist during the game, but wasn’t sure if Armstrong would be wearing the artificial homemade hamstring setup he’s had this week in practice.

***Riley said Alonzo Moore was able to do some work on the side today but still hasn’t practiced this week.

***Tight end Sam Cotton practiced Wednesday, and kicker Drew Brown and receiver Stanley Morgan have been cleared 100-percent from concussion protocol.

***Linebacker Dedrick Young has practiced all week and is expected to play Friday.
