I'm just happy they missed two FGs and lost their best player in the first quarter (after he took off for 50 yards). Add in the 4th and 1 at the NU 10 and the screw job the refs put on them early in the 3rd and we are lucky it was even close.

Don't agree. That Illinois team is bad. Does that mean we are really bad? Yes it does. Still, should have won that game.

Well the OP has a point. As bad as Illinois is, they still outplayed us. And it is a sad day in the history of Husker football when a perennial bottom feeder is better than we are. That loss was no fluke. We are probably the better team, but not by much.

If Tommy doesn't have the long run and the pass to Carter the OP is spot on.

You can't omit IL plays and not consider ours. We had multiple open receivers deep that Tommy missed on and drops hurt again. Both teams left points on the field.

Uhhh yeah and if Tommy would have hit multiple WR for a TD...then what? You can play the what if game all day long for both teams. We should have won the game but pissed it down our legs once again. Simple as that.

It looked like two evenly matched teams to me.

Agreed. That's close to how Vegas saw it to. People need to realize that we simply are not a very good team. Coaching share some blame for mistakes they have made but we are not losing to massively inferior teams right now. We are not very good.

It's repetitive and annoying to continue to say, but if we run the ball and sprinkled in a few passes, we truck these guys. They did nothing to stop our run, and they were a bad team.

At least they didn't hang 76 on us like Kansas did in 2007. That was a much sadder day. Maybe the saddest day in Husker history as far as I'm concerned.

Come on, is it that hard to give credit where its due, im heart broken and was hot that we lost to. But if you rewatch the game and see it for what it really was, if Tommy wasn't threw ducks all day and was on the money like he has been so far this year, mixed with how well we where running the ball, they would have never stopped us and we COULD have hung 42 on them. Yes they missed two field goals and that's about it, there issue was mis cues between QB and WR at times, outside that the only thing that gave then point's was the 2 big plays our defense slipped up and allowed. It wasnt evenly matched teams, Tommy had a horrible passing day which is half our offense, coaches want BALANCE (our days if 75% running plays are GONE). Tommy has to be constiant for our offense to do what it does and when hes on, our offense Is SCAREY good.

And im sorry, i know a lot of you will hate this but its dead on. If we are ever going to be able to hang with or beat the big boys in college football again we have to have a balances offense. Its not the 90s where all we need is an elite defense and a stable of bad ass RBs and a good oline and own everyone. Sure we can beat a lot of teams and look good till we hit that big time Bowl game or play off game and play and elite team and they shut our run down and because we cant pass we get smoked. If we want to beat the best or be the best we have to have balance, we have to be able to run and pass. Yes and we need a good defense who can stop the pass along with the run. With Bo we where killer against the pass but couldnt stop the run, now we can stop the run but cant stop the pass (more so the long pass).

See it how you want, its yoyr story. Illinois won but they did so not getting our best. Tommy was not on his mark or even close to it and our coaches had there air head game of the year. Whats the score if Illinois played us last week?

He did, an Westerkamp dropped it.

Wow. How low have we fallen? We have one of the 107 Illinois fans that attend their home games talking trash on our board. Now that is embarrassing to have fallen to such a sh**ty program that we last lost to during the Hoover andministraton.

Couldn't you say that about every QB? Every player? Take off the mid 90s glasses sir. There's no talent or depth and it ain't changing. After next year the team is depleted other a few on each side. Very sad what's coming.
