Rhule went all in on Raiola. Honestly, his performance on the road vs a good Iowa defense was not much different than an experienced senior, Howard, at home against a good Michigan defense.

I was pissed like everyone to lose to such a bad team yesterday, but i think we have to keep our eyes on the big picture: the floor of Raiola is about the same as the ceiling of a perennial powerhouse's starting QB.

We have to admit this season was the bare minimum of progress possible, which is disappointing. The fact that Rhule dumped Satterfield has me hopeful he's waking up to the urgency of change needed.

We finally get bowl game practices. We get an off-season to pitch to important skill players who are looking to transfer.

I'm not happy but I'm not ready to give up on them yet.

year 3 is going to tell people a lot, one way or the other.. we still have a chance to take a big step forward in the off season.. but if we don't do that, then more people will start to draw their own conclusions. We should have had a better record this year, everyone knows that the team is better than what they showed. There could be a lot of things that change between now and next year. The coaching carousel is just getting started too. Things could look very different next year.

Next year needs to be 9 wins or you're gone. Next years schedule is easier than this year.

oh, I'm secretly hoping Matt resigns and takes another job this December.. that is what I am hoping for. What remains to be seen is if he works hard for year 3, or if he says, F it, and mails it in going forward. I never liked the hire, but if I was him, I'd consider looking for an exit before things get uglier, cause it all ramps up next year.

Rhule wants to build a program the developes players. This takes time with slow results the first couple of years. He has redshirted players, played some Freshman, and is building depth. I like the 2 deep of young players ready to take the next step. The young players have no bad habits to break and seem to love competition. Not real thrilled with some of his transfers. I also think some new blood is needed with the staff.

One nice thing about a lower their bowl is the teams are a little less talented.

I truly do not understand this line of thinking.

Even if you don’t believe Rhule will be successful here, why would you want to completely blow up the program before year 3? That’s insane to me.

Rhule has always been a slow builder and while I am frustrated by the way this season turned out, and there are clear issues that need worked out… Wishing for the coach to resign so that we can restart a rebuild is wild to me.

why? because from what I see, Rhule talks out both sides of his mouth. I never liked the hire, and while I liked all his fullback and running talk in year 1, it was just bs.. he get's 1 five star and decides to re-tool everything around this guy, and it isn't the long term approach to build an identity or a program, so to me, the guy already showed his colors.. he is a failure and won't build any long term success here.

But I also understand the people who go on about the huge buyout and all.. and they are right too.. we can't afford to re-do all this.

But if he decides he doesn't like the husker fan base looking deep up his rectum every day, he can find himself an easy exit, and we can start over and look for someone ultra competitive who actually wants to win and win big. Those guys are out there if you decide that is what you want for a football coach.

The current clown was hired by Ted Carter.. I still wonder how such a decorated Naval officer makes such a tragically bad hire of a guy who doesn't know how to lead.

Iowa fans have been wishing for Kirk to retire for years

I wish Rhule would do the right thing and resign. He doesn't need the money and he won't be successful here, would be great if people would have some humility and just do what's right for a change.

Just a question but how is Rhule at developing players. He was at Temple 3 years as a head coach? 2 years at Baylor as a head coach.
I have no idea, just wondering.

I'd rather have a coach that wins games. I

If Dana doesn’t stay it will all hinge on the OC he chooses & if we keep White.

They have a shot to get it going. Key for this team is to get decent enough where 3 bad plays a game or a wrong/missed call doesn’t affect anything anymore. Stop putting yourself in situations that dumb things can happen.

The whole staff needs a reset - really the whole roster to get to 105. Lots of critical decisions in the next couple weeks.

I don't subscribe to the "next years schedule is easier" deal. It seems like that's the case every year, until it isn't. There will always be teams stepping up to kick our ass. The field isn't coming back to us.
OOC - Houston Baptist (FCS), Akron and Cincinnati (at Arrowhead?)

Easy games - Maryland, Minnesota, Northwestern, Michigan State,

Nebraska should be 7-0 in these games.

Moderate- Michigan, Iowa, USC, UCLA

Nebraska should win 2 of 4

Difficult- at Penn State... also winnable.

Nebraska was supposed to be 7-0 going into Ohio State as well.

Rhule joined a snake bitten program and looks like he needed his time to understand how bad we suck. He's made some moves and needs to make a few more in the offseason. We fans don't have a choice but to endure. At this point I think he is an average coach . We have seen development albeit slow .

We need some good WRs. Neyor and Banks are ok. Fidone, love him, but he's just not making the plays we need.

Secondary needs a lot of help.

Oline needs improvement.

Most of those schools see Nebraska as the easy game

There are truly no easy games for our program. Based on Rhule’s tenure so far, most likely outcome is that we go 2-2 in the four game stretch that you call “easy”

Let’s look at the top candidates trev supposedly looked at , fickell losing season, LL losing season, Chris kliman struggling 7-8 wins I believe, don’t say Dion he would have been a bad fit here, what I’m saying is nobody is having a great year

Why should it be limited to what Trev looked at? Trev is a dipshit.

Rhule will be fired in year 4, who are you kidding?

So after 2 seasons into a rebuild and finally going to a bowl game again, you’re 100% certain he will not be successful here? Ok 👍. I’d love to hear who is dumb enough to take this job after firing a guy 2 years into a rebuild that took you back to the post season. Way too much ignorance happening on here. Way too much.

Indeed a lot of ignorance on here.. I never said anything about firing a guy 2 years in.. All I said was I was hoping he resigns. Learn to comprehend what you read before you jump to conclusions.

This place is beyond crazy.

6-6 is no celebration. We undoubtedly should have won more games. Maybe even 9 or 10 wins, but progress is being made.

Season 3 on the brink with a bowl game to get more practice for our youngins.

I have a pretty damn good feeling that 2025 is going to be good. Maybe even great.

it's absolutely possible.. Matt has to take a very hard look at the position coaches. We need an infusion of talent at certain positions including special teams. Feel a bit like a broken record here, but he really has to start addressing things. How do you feel about the prospects long term though? Is the Rhule culture, identity, recruiting etc sustainable?

I know what you said. I know what a lot of people have said. I read it and I comprehended it just fine.

didn't take you for yet another soft fan?

Yep, I'm soft. I don't want to fire a guy after his 2nd season.

I like to remain positive about our football program. It has been a rough 20+ years, but I'll wake up every day being a Husker and wanting better.

We've had crushing defeats like Friday, but I'm not quitting. Yes, it has been extremely challenging over the years, but I don't know anything else but to support this team and program I've loved since I could crawl.

who said anything about firing a guy in year 2?

As for being the positive police, it's a message board. This is what fans do.. they bitch moan complain and celebrate as they see fit.

I don't see Rhule being any kind of positive for the program long term. The way he is running the program, he is chasing short term gains, not long term growth. So while we could have a good year in 2025, it's apparent to me that at some point, we are going to have to start over with another guy eventually. It's 2 years in, and we still don't have an offensive identity..

Maybe all that changes and Rhule changes his approach. That is entirely possible. And if that becomes apparent, oh I will give him lots of credit for that.. I think like many fans, we get tired of just words and want to see some action.

It certainly can't be wins.
