Armstrong was out, Moore was out, Sterup started over the injured Gates. Now couple in the Newby injury and DPE injury. We fielded a team on the actual playing field for Nebraska with this on offense for the majority of the game:
QB - Fyfe 5.3 Bush 5.4
FB - Janovich 5.0 Jordan 5.0
RB - Cross 5.7 Ozigbo 5.6
WR - Westerkamp 5.8 Hovey 5.0
WR - Reilly 5.0 Turner 5.8
WR - Morgan 5.8 Allen 5.5
TE - Carter 5.6 Cotton 5.5
LT - Lewis 5.5 Knevel 5.7
LG - Utter 5.0 Foster 5.7
C - Reeves 5.8 Thurston 5.8
RG - Kondolo 5.5 Foster 5.7
RT - Sterup 5.8 Gates 5.8
Average Starter: 5.48. 4 Walk Ons.
Backups: 5.54. 2 Walk Ons.
2 Deep (23 players): 6 walk ons, 26% of the 2 deep. 5 Freshman also listed on the 2 deep (didn't count Foster twice), 21.7% of the 2 deep. 47.82% of the 2 deep on offense walked on to the team or are freshmen.
Remember we are more talented than Purdue and should never lose to them.
Again I'm not saying Mike Riley is or isn't the answer, but I'm willing to give him time to see if he can bring in talent to change this. Having 8 weeks to recruit from when he was hired to change this abomination of a roster is not enough time. In my opinion we are a very bad team. We have been for awhile, we just masked it with wins over even worse teams and had a couple difference makers that won games for us. When it came time to play a legit team we got records put up on us. There is no Ameer on O to bail us out against McNeese. This teams talent level won't just change over night. Right now we are more close talent wise to Purdue than we are to Ohio St., Michigan, Michigan St. and others. It's a long road to hoe, and I hope like hell we get there with Riley.
