EVERY YEAR I say to myself "Don't Drink the Dang Koolaid!" So I'm trying hard not to but with this schedule and knowing what we saw last year along with the positive things being added now I can't help but think we finally see a 9+ win season.... I'm curious what the rest of Y'all are feeling about this schedule as well...

Northwestern - Win but could be a game - Will be interesting as it's in Ireland
North Dakota - Win
Georgia Southern - Win
Oklahoma - Going through their own challenges and coming into Lincoln after a tough game against DONU in Norman... TossUp
Rutgers - Win
Indiana - finished at the bottom of the East - Win
Michigan - Can NU play them in Ann Arbor like they did in Lincoln and add some offense? Toss Up
Minnesota - What will we see from Minny this year? Toss Up
Wisconsin - NU's nemesis played in Madison - Oof... would be a big win - TossUp
Purdue - Surprised a lot of folks in 21, can they maintain this in 22? - TossUp
Illinois - You know Frost & Co are still pissed over this one, Huskers give them a Northwestern style beatdown in Lincoln - Win
Iowa - Nebraska knows the importance of this game, Whipple schemes up a plan to get it done in Iowa City - Win

That's 7 wins 5 toss ups - If NU wins 2 of the 5 toss ups that puts NU at 9 wins and after the crap us fans have endured won't that feel good!

For me I want to see NU Win in "Convincing Fashion"! In other words, I want to see these games put away in the 3rd or early 4th and the next strings are getting reps... Show us fans the progress that we've been hearing about along with the wins to go with...

Here is mine:

First three all wins
Oklahoma. Loss
Rutgers Toss up
Indiana. Win
Michigan. Loss
Minnesota Loss
Wisconsin. Loss
Purdue. Toss up
Illinois Toss up
Iowa. Loss.

That is 4 wins, 5 losses, and 3 toss ups. Given our history under Frost I do not see us winning more than one of the toss ups, maybe 2. So I think we have a 5-7 or a 6-6 season. I still don't think our offensive line will be worth a damn, which negates the Thompson factor. And the defense takes a step back.

You drank the Kool Aid again. It's the old Charlie Brown cartoon where Lucy pulls the football out from Charlie Brown. You know it's coming but you just can't help yourself because you want to kick that football so damn bad. I hope you're right but I'm not getting my hopes up. We still have Scott Frost as our coach which means head scratching decision making at key moments.

No reason not to agree with the OP, other than all of us maintaining the 'woe is me' attitude. We have been so beaten down by failed expectations over the years. Yeah, Indiana should be a garbage team, but the way things go for us, they will come out and light it up all year and beat us by 3 scores. Same with Illinois, Rutgers, etc.

I see Michigan as a loss, otherwise, none of the games scare me. We lost all our games this year by us being dumb. I expect our defense to take a step back to their pre 2021 level and be just decent. I expect the offense to finally start to click with some new blood in there. Remember, we have never seen a Frost team here without AM2. I expect special teams to improve to where they are just average.

With all that said, easier schedule, us not beating ourselves, we should come back to the median and win 8 or 9 games, recruiting should take a turn for the better, and we can get this thing rolling again.

OR, we come out and lose to NW and the season falls apart before October. Wouldnt be suprised either way.

7-5 or 6-6 with a bowl berth is enough to get HCSF an extension, if they win 8 or 9 games means that they figured something out with special teams and the offense is more efficient in the red zone. The defense will be solid enough to keep them in the game. Time for the offense to go out and win some games.

Same thing happened last year with Purdue and Minny, people assumed those were wins.
Outside of the first 3 games I don’t see any sure wins. I’ll say 5/6 wins because I haven’t seen the new offense but do know we have a decent QB now.
I do think we actually step back a bit on D, and our OL stinks until proven otherwise.
5-7 is my early prediction

I know some on here don't like to hear it but we were in every game last year so that tells me there was improvement and this thing is turning and not for the worst.

I'm not going to try and predict wins and losses because there are too many variables each year. I will say if we see good special teams and solid QB play we should finally see the Nebraska football team go to a bowl in 2022.

I'm glad we saw some assistant coaches fired and some new solid coaches added now all Frost needs to do is get out of the way and let the new coaches coach without interfering.

The frost affair with Adrian is over, jmo but i believe Nebraska might have faired better if Adrian gets benched at halftime of the Minnesota game and Logan gets the reins we dont Lose out we win one or two more but frost was to stubborn to try logan even after Adrian was beat down until he absolutely had to for iowa

I’m fired up, because ya know, football. But every game and every season is a prove it season for Frost. Im not interested in anything other than game #1. Let’s go ahead and win that one.

they are toss ups nearly every year, dont expect much difference this year. Literally every game this year was a toss up, we just had too many flaws to have them go our way unfortunately.

Pretty amazing (for lack of a better word) to lose every single close game like we did. Basically unprecedented.

all I know is that if we win the west & get killed in the B1G title game, we will get an invite to the rose bowl unlike iowa this year, which I still find to be quite hilarious

7 wins would be wonderful and 9 wins just might put Frost in the B1G coach of the year conversation. My bar for the season is just making a Bowl game.

Will Nebraska be the Michigan of 2021? I think it's possible...If we can fix special teams and get a bounce or two and that schedule has 9 wins, if not more
I would love for Nebraska to be like Michigan State in 2022, 11-2 New Years 6 bowl win and a top 10 ranking..

My prediction is that those who squealed so loudly about the schedule last year as a reason for a 3 win season will muster nary a screech about the easier schedule next year as the reason for an improved record
And those same posters that ignored the challenges of this year's schedule will squeal about how easy next years schedule is as the reason for an improved record.

I'll go with this *but don't hold me to it* predictions...

NW - Won't be played in Dublin (W)
N. Dakota - 1/2 our fans will think we beat NDSU, and thump our chests over beating the 9 time National Champions (W)
Ga. Southern - That Buffalo QB (VanTrease) plays for them now. He'll have his "revenge" game against us and flip off the crowd, only to lose to us again by 20+. (W)
Oklahoma - We put up with the OU fans BS "We remember when y'all used to be good " for a half before a random Nebraska fan punches an OU fan in the face with us down big in the 3rd quarter. It gets the biggest cheer all day on the HuskerVision replay board, which slows it down and replays from multiple angles. (L)
Rutgers - Greg Schiano will cry after the game (L)
Indiana - Coach Allen will lose his voice midway through the first quarter and the sellout streak ends. (W)
Michigan - Frost will put Harbaugh in a modified DDT backbreaker in the pregame handshakes. Refs again play huge factor in a wildly entertaining game. (L)
Minnesota - PJ Fleck weirdly inspects our new offensive staff while they are with their families. He's got some new weird gesture he does throughout. No one but the hardened guardians of the RSS know what he's doing. A few of them laugh on the sidelines. (L)
Wisconsin - The mascots fight not once, but twice during the game. No one cares. (L)
Purdue - The big drum is ripped by an errant throw by Matt Masker late in the game. Purdue sends UNL a bill for repairs, UNL denies payment, and it starts a new trophy game. (L)
Illinois - Bret and Scott are laughing about something pregame, we find out 10 years later when Scott is on Bret's staff that Bret says to Scott, "you lose this game to us, and I'll let you on my staff as an assistant after the gravy train at Nebraska is over". (L)
Iowa - Iowa is riding high at 10-1, but in classic Iowa fashion s***s the bed when having an outside shot at the playoff and the Big Ten West title. One of our players refuses to wave at the Iowa kids after the first quarter, and instead of admitting defeat, Ferentz goes into some big hubris about not respecting tradition. (W)

Final Record: 5-7

Northwestern - W Close but in Ireland we may not be focused and NW will be so its probably a toss up.
North Dakota - W will be very close in the 1st half think we pull away in the end.
Georgia Southern - W Seems like a vintage Scott Frost blown game looking ahead to OU but I'll say W.
Oklahoma - L
Rutgers - L Schiano will have them humming in year 3.
Indiana - W Toss up. Depends on if they can find a QB. I'd lean W because we are at home.
Michigan - L
Minnesota - L PJ has outcoached Frost all but 1 year.
Wisconsin - L. we get run all over.
Purdue - W. Get them at home I'll lean with a win. but could easily lose this.
Illinois - W. Get them at home but it'll be a toss up. Bert is a very good coach and it wont be a cake walk.
Iowa - L.

At best 6-6 at worst 3-9. I dont think 6-6 should be good enough for Frost to stay but he'll be here in 2023.

Whipple's O Work

Northwestern - W - These guys suck and I don't see them rebounding.
North Dakota - W I think we win easy again
Georgia Southern - W - Might be tougher than expected.
Oklahoma - L They are beatable and will have a lot different look I think.
Rutgers - W - Tougher than expected
Indiana - W
Michigan - W - They lose quite a bit and I think Harbaugh is bouncing
Minnesota - W Take care of Row & Won't have Adrian taking 15 yard safeties
Wisconsin - L Nemesis
Purdue - W. I will never give Purdue the benefit of the doubt and they aren't returning much
Illinois - W.
Iowa - W Shut them the **** up

Whipple Doesn't Work

Northwestern - W They suck and so do we, but still should beat them handily
North Dakota - W Will be close
Georgia Southern - W Close
Oklahoma - L
Rutgers - W - Will have some hope until it all comes falling down
Indiana - L They suck but lose at home
Michigan - L Find a way to lose
Minnesota - L PJ still rows the boat
Wisconsin - L. Another moral victory
Purdue - L - 5 turnovers
Illinois - L - They run it down our throat in crunch time
Iowa - L. Same as Illinois

The one thing I am hopeful for is the roster doesn't look too bad, and Adrian - I'm the anti-Clutch - Martinez is no longer with the program. I'm excited for Thompson and all of these WR's. I will be really excited if we get a RB that finally shines or a couple of them.

I think there's some dudes in there but again, so much depends on the improvement of the OL!!! the OL is the crux of everything at the moment! Raiola has his work cut out for him for sure... probly the most intense position for 2022 outside of Head Coach!

I agree, but our backs have horrible vision. That might be Held's coaching, but good lord, have a little vision.

This is the most sensible post so far in this thread! By my count, we have 7 guys coming back on the OL have played some and started some games. I don't see any 2 or even 3 year starters but I could have missed someone.

We have no idea who the center will be as no one has played there besides Jurgens. That is HUGE and if anyone did work out in that position, the line calls may be all different with a new O

New OL coach. That one could go a bunch of different directions. Raiola has one of the most difficult jobs on the staff and possibly in the B1G I believe.

We do have some unknowns coming in but they didn't exactly light the world on fire where they were at.

Completely (as far as we know) new O to learn complete with new blocking assignments, terminology.

Oh, then throw in a QB they are not familiar with. What could go wrong?

Purdue returns like 16 starters and most of their two deeps. Just a heads up. I'd be upset if Purdue didn't win at least 8 next year.

I do expect Nebraska to be better though. Then again, I've thought that for 3 years now...

Of the four contenders for the West (Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin and Minnesota), Purdue has the most favorable crossover schedule, features the best returning QB and owns Iowa, who won last year despite going 4-2 in the division. Crossovers against PSU, Maryland and Indiana carried the Hawkeyes to the title even though they lost badly to Purdue and Wisconsin. Wisconsin was 5-1 in the division, but lost early crossovers to PSU (with a healthy QB) and Michigan. Iowa won't get that cushy schedule next year.

If Purdue can pull a week 1 upset, sky is the limit for season success tbh. Purdue has a better coach than psu imo, but psu has better horses. Week 1 can create chaos though, as Nebraska knows.

Obviously I hope the Huskers can pull off the extremely unlikely and win the West, but given that low probability, I'll put my money on a team with a proven QB and a history of beating Iowa. Boiler Up.

6-6 with losses to Oklahoma, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Purdue and Iowa. Until they beat them or Frost proves he can coach a decent game against Fleck I won't predict improvement until I actually see change. They've done what they needed to with the staff and roster once the decision to keep Frost was made. The o-line will still be poor which negates a lot of the talent and the defense will regress slightly and still doesn't have a pass rusher.
