I have seen the uncanny reach of the people on this forum and i have a shot in the dark here. I am looking for a pedal steel guitar for sale somewhere in the state of Nebraska, and I am having a hell of a time. Anyone here that has one or knows someone, please reach out. That is all.

I know I guy that used to build them. IF that's an avenue you would be interested in.... but I will say this, it won't be cheap. He built some for VERY famous country artists back in the 70's and 80's.

The last time I was in Roots Music in Lincoln I believe they had a used Pedal Steel Guitar. Admittedly, that was months ago. I recommend giving them a call, 402-435-7668.

I know you said Nebraska, but Reverb.com is typically the best site (IMO) for finding selection of used gear. I did a quick search and they at least have a handful on there now.

I have used Reverb.com for years. The trouble with buying a pedal steel online is i cant look at it closely to ensure it is working. they cost a couple grand, and usually end up for sale with the levers in various states of disrepair. It can be very costly and a pain to service/restore them as well.

Yeah- instrument purchases sight unseen is tough.

Reverb.com for all your musical needs. I spend most of waking hours lusting over gear. Bought a couple of amplifiers and MANY guitar pedals on Reverb. Guitars are more personal. I like to try before buying so I shop local.

You might check with John Hargiss, a luthier at 40th & Hamilton in Omaha. Along with an instrument repair shop, John has a large assortment of used guitars, amps and related items.

Steve "Fuzzy" Blazek is the pedal steel player in The Bottletops, an Americana band led by Mike Semrad and his wife Kerry. Kerry is also the General Manager of Lincoln's KZUM-FM. You might reach-out to Fuzzy by contacting Kerry Semrad at KZUM.

Here's a recent (3/27) Facebook Marketplace post for a pedal steel in Council Bluffs. I don't have any details about the seller or this particular instrument, however.

If you can play “sleep walk” as well as Santo and Johnny, I’ll find one for you.

The pedal-steel guitar I mentioned in Council Bluffs remains for-sale on Facebook Marketplace, as of 4/9. Figured you've checked it out in-person by now. If so, did the guitar turn-out to be in poor condition, or missing key parts?

it has the guts of a pedal steel, but it is housed in a homemade wooden frame, the pedals and levers have been removed and put back in the wrong spots/order and it has issues with tuning, because noone knows what it started out as (E9,C6,G). It is really a massive project, and the guy wants too much for what it is. An incredible tease nonetheless.

Maybe if I was in Nashville. I call the Pawn Shops in Lincoln/Omaha periodically. They all say the never see pedal steels in. I think the bulk of them in this state are hardly played units sitting in grandmas storage collecting dust until some lucky bastard scores at the estate sale.

I saw one in Sol's on 72nd in Omaha a few years back and thought "I should buy this and resell it" It was pretty cheap and looked to be a nicer one.
