Spotlight is on Hughes per sharp and benning
Guess I didn't catch what Hughes has to do with Watts listening to S&B...Spotlight is on Hughes per sharp and benning
I'm not sure Watts is one of those guys that was going to make a difference. I've heard some rumblings that he may not qualify so we are looking elsewhere. We've got some pass rushers coming.Pipelines are where you win games. Period. OL recruiting looks like it's headed in a decent direction. But man I hope they get DL figured out very soon. NSD is less than a month away. This staff has gotta get a couple good pass rushers for this class. Losing Collins & VV didn't help, so S&B are right. The spotlight is on Hughes, because to get back at least to the into top 15 they have to reel 'em in. I know it's obvious, but still. Hoping for the best!
Pass rushers may not be needed as much as you are saying here. Alex Davis, Freedom and Daishon Neal all are pass rushers and all are very young. I wouldn't mind seeing us land another speedy pass rusher as you can never have to many, but to say it is a necessity I disagree.Pipelines are where you win games. Period. If he wasn't going to qualify at Nebraska, he sure as hell is going to qualify at Iowa.I'm not sure Watts is one of those guys that was going to make a difference. I've heard some rumblings that he may not qualify so we are looking elsewhere.
ISU not Iowa I think. Some programs are more willing to risk holding a spot for a kid because he would make a difference for their program. Unfortunately we had to do that way too much over the past 7 years to try to fill the class with D-1 players. If he wasn't going to qualify at Nebraska, he sure as hell is going to qualify at Iowa.
Yeah. I misread ISU for Iowa. How could he possibly not qualify at Nebraska?ISU not Iowa I think. You'll have to listen to segment 5 on Sharp & Benning. They said a few times, "Hughes is in the spotlight" or "Hughes needs to be looked at".Can anyone give the Cliff's Notes version of the issue?

That can mean many different things. I'm taking it as they meant Hughes needs to be looked at at what he's doing as a DL coach and how (good or bad) he's doing his job. I don't think they really meant anything towards Hughes and Watts. But I could be wrong.
I would think not being sure where you stand in the pecking order would be good for competition. IF you don't want to compete for your job, hit the road.Okay, apparently some Husker D-linemen weren't happy with Hughes this year and didn't know where they stood day to day in the pecking order. And Valentine wouldn't work hard for Hughes either. But Hughes also had a tough situation with Kaz, a former coach staying in touch with his former players.
I think we should let Coach Hughes have a couple more years. Let's see what he can do.
