If you're a real Husker through and through why all the angst towards Coach Riley? As far as i can tell the man hasn't done or said one thing that can be spun in a negative light. Yet I've seen numerous posts that have him painted in a negative brush. I've also noticed when good news comes to light these posters are ready and waiting to throw that wet blanket. We have a golden opportunity and i hope eventually some will stand down.

Maybe I'm blind but I haven't seen anything too harsh directed at the man on this board.

I like going on RSS but after reading some posts i find myself back here. :)

Pretty much this. Some are concerned with his recent record at Oregon State...which is understandable but with a change of scenery and better opportunities at NU I'm hoping it will breath new life into Riley's career. He was at OSU for quite awhile and I think he maxed out. I like everything about the hire in the early going and am hoping it eventually leads to trophy's on the field.

RSS completely sucks compared to what it used to be. The board used to have all kinds of informed posters but previous leadership of the Nebraska network slowly weeded them all out to only portray positive information regarding the program. I'll never go back.

I also haven't seen much negative on here. I think some were "underwhelmed" by the initial hiring announcement, but many (myself included) are approaching this with growing optimism.

Pretty much this. I haven't seen any real negative stuff lately. I myself was one of the "underwhelmed" people upon the announcement of Riley's hire (well more like pissed and vocal about it than underwhelmed) *BUT* am indeed growing with optimism.

That chart that showed which school accomplished the most given their recruiting had Oregon State at the top. That was good to see and now the work that is being done on the recruiting trail and what the recruiting experts are saying about the staffs ability and organization when it comes to recruiting, has given me plenty to be happy about thus far.

that BYU opener is going to be huge and has the potential to swing the needle way negative or positive with regards to Riley - unfair that a single game has that effect but it will

tough, tough game and I'm not sure Nebraska will be the better team on the field that day

We must be reading a different board. Or you meant to post this months ago after he was hired and never got around to it.

I know we're not supposed to talk about RSS threads on the Husker board. I just thought i'd give my support to Coach.

byu will have the better player at one position and that's about it. Add in their likely suspensions and there's just no way we should be losing that game.

Considering we will likely have a potential starter at LB suspended for that game....it concerns me against Taysom Hill. With how terrible the previous staff did at recruiting that position we may have to rely on some true freshman that game and I could see Hill having a field day.

You're like my wife. Sometimes she spends all day stewing about something in her head and by the time I see her in person she's already decided that not only was I wrong, I owe her a nice dinner out. Meanwhile I walk around wondering WTF she's so mad about.

Might be best to preface your takes going forward.

i suppose that's true, but there is really no excuse for us not to put up a boatload of pts against their defense. Looks like they'll be down about ten guys. not really sure on the impact there.

This is how i see coach Riley getting it done at Nebraska.
Year 1 - West Division Champs.
Years (1-3) - Big Ten Champs w/ Playoff spot.

Did you mean to post this somewhere else?

People were concerned with Saban many years ago and many other coaches. End of the day he has gotten a fresh opportunity with every resource he could need. I am blown away with the recruiting foundation he is laying....he will need to win no doubt that will silence the naysayers and recruiting flood gates could open. Winning big games in prime time spots will be key. Bo could never do that and that kills recruiting.

I haven't seen a lot of negativity towards riley yet. The guy hasn't been given a chance yet. Our recruiting efforts have increased, organization and focused increased regardin recruiting. The results have been average for the most part thus far. Hopefully with time, that will change.

If you agree that our goal is a Natty then read on, if not, go back to searching cheerleader pics on Google. Here's my problem with the hire guys:
It took the man we consider the best football coach in history 21 years to bring a 'ship at Nebraska. Riley's got 6, maybe 7, years before the rocking chair & bike seat calls his name. NOT ENOUGH TIME TO TAKE US WHERE WE WANT TO GO. Instead of hiring an interim coach like Riley to steady the rocking boat, just hire the young guy who will be here for the long road back. Osborne was a young coordinator, from a small Nebraska town with innovative offensive schemes. Remind you of someone? We should have went after him hard instead of just settling for grandpa to watch over the program for a bit.

If you don't believe it's possible for Nebraska to win a Big Ten title in three years under Riley then find a new team. Cause your dead weight in our program's future.

Smoke that and pass it around to your buds.

How old was Bob when we hired him????????

Bob was almost fifty when Nebraska hired him. 50... the BIG 50. I wonder if he had a party with black balloons to celebrate. I wonder how many hip young students at the time thought he was too old.

To win a National Championship you need to win the B1G first. Get the conference title and a possible playoff spot and your in play for the title.

MR>>>>>>>>Frost

By a country freaking mile.

MR better than Frost in 7 years??????
Doubt it.

To win the nat. Championship you gotta win the B1G, can we all agree?

As it stands, even though I like Tommy, Ohio St.'s 3rd string QB is better. That's how far we have to go. We're grasping for 3-star LBs to start? Get a clue.

Hey, rover, if I don't believe in every decision our govt. makes, should I leave the country? Real fans, true Americans, stick it out through the bad decisions...with our heads held high. GBR buddy!

No doubt that the BYU game will be a challenge, but if all it takes is one loss for some fans to decide they like or dislike the head coach, then those fans know very little about college athletics and certainly never participated at that level.

So now you're comparing Riley to Bob Devaney? Laughable.

From what I've seen so far I really think that MR can get us back on the right track in 3 -4 years and that could get him 3-4 more really good years here.. I also think that there is the beginning of a coaching tree on this current staff. Lagsdorf, Bray, Williams to just name a few. Some will leave & some will stay BIMO this is the new beginning. .

Great post. I honestly think if we play smart and hard this year then we could be in the fight really quick. The coaches Riley brought with him look big time. And i love that! And i suspect future recruits will love that too. The future is definitely on the right track.

Hopefully one of them will prove to be a logical successor to Riley when that time comes.

Well, with Riley, at least we've got a chance

Our biggest road block to success was Bo and whatever made him tick. That's why we always had problems with consistent play. The program is built to succeed and that is why he could hit that magic 9 win mark. And by the program that includes the players who saved him from himself in numerous games. Now imagine a coach that will coach up and inspire the program to success?
