Brenden Jaimes had a nice finish to his spring football session on Friday, showing off what makes him a nice pickup for Nebraska after his mid-April commitment. Though the majority of his snaps came against second-stringers, fundamentally, Jaimes looked sharp and helped a productive first-team offense that was without quarterback Charlie Brewer. Jaimes seemed as happy with his work during the spring as he continues to be in his commitment to the Huskers.

On his visit to Nebraska’s spring game:
“(Nebraska’s spring game) was fun; I got to see Coach (Mike) Cavanaugh, Coach (Mike) Riley, and it was just a good time,” he said. “We just took a tour around campus, but other than that, we just watched the game, went out to eat downtown and just had a good time.”

“I was focused on the running game, they did a lot of running stuff,” he said. “But that’s something I like to do, and I think I can fit in pretty good with that.”

His assessment of spring football with Lake Travis:
“I think all-around as an offensive lineman and as offensive line we got better -- I think that was our main goal this spring and I think that’s what we accomplished,” he said. “Other than that, individually I thought I did pretty well. I always have things to work on but that’s what summer is for.”

I last saw Jaimes at the Rivals Camp Series event in Dallas a few months ago, but seeing him in pads paints a much better picture of what Nebraska is getting with him. I thought he did alright at our camp even though he didn’t take a ton of one-on-one reps. In his spring game, he did a good job playing with leverage and was as dominant as you would expect, playing against his younger teammates. Jaimes said that he is looking to take another visit to Nebraska over the summer and will be looking to take in a game as well.
